Many of you know that we are a homeschooling family. It’s a choice we made before our kids were born, and now that we are in the middle of our 4th year it’s not a decision I would ever change. Even though we love it and it works for our family, that doesn’t mean it’s always easy or that we know everything that we are doing. I would say that every homeschooling family has questions and needs a support system of other families to help answer them. For us one of the biggest helps has been attending the Teach Them Diligently Convention. I’ve gone the past two years and loved it. It’s a time to come and learn about curriculum, get inspired by other families and just get refueled to continue on.
They bring in some of the biggest names in homeschooling like Stephen Kendrick, Ken Ham, Voddie Baucham and Sally Clarkson. They also bring in some not so big names like me. This coming year will be my third year as a speaker for the Spartanburg SC convention. You can sit through sessions ranging from explaining creation to saving on groceries… what more can you ask for?
For anyone considering homeschooling this is also a great place to be. There are many parents coming to see what other families do and to learn the basics. One of my favorite parts honestly is the Expo hall. You can talk directly with the curriculum publishing companies and put your hands on the text books as you decide what materials to use. You’ll also find used curriculum sellers there (I may go to the authors to see everything and then walk over and buy used versions…) You will find a lot more in the expo hall than curriculum too.
So that you can see their heart behind the conference:
We offer an exciting children’s program, teen program, men’s breakfast, robotics classes and Getting Homeschooling Track. This event is built for the entire family, not just Moms. It is a family discipleship and homeschool convention built on the Gospel because we believe families need this foundation, but we also believe that the families of America is where revival will start. If you have come before, come back! Refreshment, Renewal, Revival–they need to happen constantly.
A Coupon Code:
If you want to attend this year, then I have a special deal for you. Now through this Friday you can save $8 off the family registration fee. Use code SAVERS8OFF and that will make it cost $47. This covers everything for the main conference except your food for everyone in your family. If you want t sign up your kids for the kids program that is not included. We actually keep our kids with us in sessions (as do many folks) and they love it!
There are 4 conventions this year (the coupon code will work for any of them):
Nashville, TN – March 20-22nd
Spartanburg, SC – April 3-5th
Washington, DC – May 15-17th

Personally, I would love to see all of you in Spartanburg…
