Learning to ride a bike is a big right of passage for kids (and parents). We start them out of tricycles, but those just don’t really teach the balance that they need to ride a real bike. Let’s not forget about the workout that parents get from running behind their kids while holding onto the seat. Then you let go and just hope that they don’t get too hurt if they fall.
Balance bikes are a great way for your kids to learn the art of balancing on two wheels before they graduate to a big kid bike.
What’s even better than a bike that your kids can learn and have fun on is a bike that’s good for the environment. Kinderfeets balance Bikes are made from sustainable birch wood and every tree used in their production is replanted. The tires are airless and completely biodegradable. They even use minimal packaging material made from recycled paper.
The balance bikes come in all different colors of chalkboard paint which means your kids can personalize their new bikes however they want with chalk.
They sent me one to try out and my sweet 5 year old loves it! It came with some assembly required, but it only took me about 10 minutes. The seat height is adjustable so it can grow with them for a while and the seat cushion is removable so you can wash it! The wheels are tough so she can ride this balance bike pretty much wherever she wants whether it’s the driveway, dirt, grass or wherever.
She was so proud of her bike that the first time she rode it she yelled over to her big sisters and said, “Look! I’m balancing on my bike!”
