This week I feel like going to the grocery store was a big accomplishment. South Carolina has been in a bit of turmoil as have most of our neighbors in GA and FL. Grocery stores started running out of bread, milk, water and other items on Tuesday and I don’t think they ever got restocked. We live far from the coast, but the craziness for us was all the evacuees coming to town. Maybe it was the beaches way of showing us what summer is like for them…
I did head out to Publix and get some fresh fruit and the last gallon of milk (we had to go with whole but you can’t be picky here). We also got a great deal at Rite Aid with coupons that expire Sunday, so don’t miss that one!!
Publix Totals:
Total Purchased: $48.15
Total Spent: $26.88
Total Saved: $21.27
It’s not amazing, but it was still some savings. Most of the folks around me looked like they were happy to have food, so I’m going to go with them this week.
Rite Aid Totals:
Total Purchased: $60
Total Spent: $17.13
Total Saved: $42.87
I paid with plenti points I had from previous deals and left with 2000 points (=$20) to use next time. I also left with a $25 Toys R US gift card!! You can see all the details and a video I did on this trip here.

Have you ever been moving and something simply won’t fit in the room? That happened to my friend who was trying to turn her finished attic into a guest room. When they went to move the queen-sized mattress up the stairs, it wouldn’t fit through the door, no matter how much maneuvering they tired. After that, the only solutions were A) a couple of twin beds, or B) one of those new mattresses in a box.
Mattresses that come in boxes are tightly vacuum-sealed and folded into a more manageable size. She voted to go with this option rather than making her guests feel like they were entering the Dick Van Dyke era.
Enter the solution with Eve Mattresses.
Eve uses a new generation of memory foam that offers more bounce and a cooler, more restful sleep. Eve created this mattress through 4 years of optimization, customer trials and 70,000 prototypes. When you buy one of these mattresses, you can rest assured that it’s production wasn’t rushed, but assembled with a lot of thought.
This mattress has three layers: the New Generation Memory Foam Top Layer, High Resilience Comfort Layer and the High Density Base Layer.
They offer free shipping and returns. Your mattress will ship within 48 hours, that means you can be sleeping on your new bed within the week! If you’re still not sure, this is worry-free buying. Sleep on the mattress for 100 nights and if you don’t like it, you can return it. As if that weren’t enough, Eve offers a 10 year guarantee. If your mattress fails at any point in those 10 years, they’ll replace it for a new one.
Thanks to Eve we managed to get her a bed for free. I just had to head over and do the work of showing you what it was like. Watch the video above (or click here if you can’t see it) as we unbox her Eve mattress.
After sleeping on the mattress, my friend loves it! She’s used to the spring mattresses, so it’ll take some time to get used to such memory foam, but there is no turning back now. Mattress manufacturers use springs because they are a cheap product. Since the bed is in her finished attic, it was important to her that she gets a mattress that won’t sleep too hot. She slept on it in the middle of September in South Carolina (which can be pretty hot) and she didn’t think it was at all too warm.
