For everyone that is ready to set new goals and get more healthy there are many free fitness apps that can help you meet your goals and track your progress.  Some of these free fitness apps have higher levels of access that you can pay for, but all the ones in this post should be enough for you without paying anything extra.

(If you’re looking for some apps to track other aspects of health like food, check out my post on 11 free apps to help you lose weight and stay motivated.)

12 Best Free Fitness Apps

Caliber Strength Training (Apple | Android)

Caliber app is 100% FREE for everyone and was rated the BEST fitness app by Sports Illustrated. When you sign up, the app asks you about your goals, time, equipment and more. Then is develops a plan just for you including workouts, metrics, tracking, weekly lessons, video instructions and nutrition syncing. It can also sync with over 100 different apps.

C25K (Apple | Android)

The Couch to 5K running plan has been around forever, but there’s a free app that gives you guided instructions as you are training. I’ve used this one as well as the C210K app with great results. It’s perfect for anyone, even if you’ve never run a day in your life. Download the app and then do a search in your area for 5Ks that are happening in the new few months, and you’ll have something amazing to work toward.

Runkeeper (Apple | Android)

Runkeeper is another free app that I’ve used for years. I’ve logged something like 1,000 activities over the years! You can opt to get a subscription for $39.99/year if you want training plans and workout comparisons, but I just like it tracking my walks and runs as I go and have never felt the need to pay for premium access. There are also free challenges you can join if you like having some measure of accountability.

I love to have these puff pastry egg bites ready made for breakfast because they taste great, are a good source of protein, and you can use whatever veggies you have on hand.

Buy store-bought puff pastry to make this super simple! You can also pre-make them; to reheat with best results, heat in an oven or toaster oven.

                Puff Pastry Egg Bites Recipe

                Ingredients

                • cooking spray
                • 1 cup various diced veggies (onions, peppers, asparagus, tomatoes, etc. whatever you have on hand)
                • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
                • 6 eggs
                • 1/4 cup milk
                • 1 cup shredded cheese
                • salt and pepper

                Directions

                1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees and spray a 12-count muffin tin well with cooking spray.
                2. In a skillet over medium heat, saute your vegetables until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Remove to a bowl and allow to cool slightly.
                3. Cut the sheet of puff pastry into 12 squares and lay the squares into the muffin cups. The corners of the pastry will poke out a little and that's fine. Lightly poke the bottom of the puff pasty with a fork (but don't poke all the way through).
                4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, shredded cheese, and salt and pepper. Whisk in the sauteed vegetables.
                5. Divide the egg mixture into the muffin cups and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the puff pastry is golden brown.

                  Winter and Spring Kid Crafts

                  on 1.6.2024 at 12:25pm

This past week we’ve been all over the board in terms of weather in my area.  We’ve had rain, 70 degree weather and 30 degree weather.  I don’t know about you, but I usually like to match my crafts with how the weather is outside.

Today I have a few crafts for you to do with your kids for Valentine’s Day, Winter Crafts and Spring Crafts.  They tend to need something to direct their attention to when it’s too cold to play outside.  I’ll let you choose whether it’s Spring craft season or Winter.

                  Winter or Spring Kid Crafts

                  Valentine’s Day Crafts

The next big holiday we have coming up is Valentine’s Day. I know this is a big DIY time for making your own Valentines with your kids.  I found a really fun project from Martha Stewart using wax paper hearts that you can hang in the window.  Why not add some extra umph to it and turn it into a valentine project that kids can later hang in their window?

To add more life to it, decorate the child’s name on the heart and maybe glue some tissue paper around the border.  This will be a card they can proudly hang in their windows and then watch the sun shine through all of the pretty colors.

                  Easter Trees

I love Easter trees!  I found this one from Better Homes & Gardens; it’s so easy to make!  Just bring in some branches from the yard that you can later put into a bucket or a jar.  You can either paint the branches or leave them natural.

Then have your kids decorate some plastic eggs either with paint, paper or Mod Podge then with pretty fabrics.  You can even have them cut out decorations from craft paper to hang on the limbs.  All you have left to do is attach some strings to the decorations so you can hang them.
