The Original Peloton bike starts at $1,895 not including the accessories or the All Access Membership which is an additional cost of $49 per month. You can finance for 39 months at 0% APR. With this option you’d pay $49 per month for the bike plus the $49 membership access.

This makes it so you are spending around $100 a month (depending on the bike package you choose). Some would argue that this is equivalent or even less than what some folks are spending on a gym membership and gym childcare. Plus, you don’t have to leave home which makes it convenient, especially in a pandemic. Your entire household can use the membership while making individual profiles at no added cost so this is a nice feature too.

If the Peloton price tag is a bit hefty for you, there is a way to participate in the “Peloton” experience without spending a fortune. Consider getting a regular spinner bike! There are a plethora of good options on the market right now, many starting around $300.  Also, the Peloton is offering their App free for 2 months right now for new users.

After the free trial, it costs $12.99 per month. While there are a few features not accessible in the app that the All Access Membership does have, you can still get access to over 1200 strength, yoga, cycling, running and other classes right on your phone, tablet, TV or web browser. You will just need to download the app and place a tablet or your phone on any stationary bike.

My friend has the Sunny Health & Fitness Indoor Cycling Bike and has had a positive experience with this bike. It is currently $299 on Amazon but there are several options available. 

To get the most out of classes, you will also need accessories like a cadence sensor and compatible smart watch or bike computer to display your cadence. The sensor tracks and captures real-time cycling cadence on your bike computer or smartphone with compatible training apps. You will notice in the Peloton classes that they often refer to your cadence so knowing this information is vital for fully participating in the classes.

If you don’t have something like a Garmin watch, you can get a bike computer to display these stats for as low as $35. If you want to go a step further, you can get cycling shoes and clip in pedals, but this will run you an extra $200 or so. Most of the spinner bikes come with caged pedals so cycling shoes aren’t a necessity to participate in the classes, but something to look into if you use the bike often.
