I’m all about the boxes of macaroni and cheese that usually go on sale for $1 or less, but after trying this Instant Pot mac and cheese, I’m not sure I’ll ever go back. This has become a family staple and something great to make as a side when we’re having company. It is almost even less work than the blue box stuff, if you can believe it. It only takes 5 minutes of cooking in the Instant Pot, and it mostly just involves dumping things in. It turns out creamy and SO delicious!

Instant Pot Macaroni and Cheese
All you need is pasta, some liquid (I like chicken broth but water is fine), salt and pepper, butter, cheese, and milk. Yes, a few more ingredients than the boxed stuff, but I promise it’s worth it!
You’ll add the pasta, liquid, butter, salt and pepper to the pot and set it to cook for 5 minutes.
When the time is up, quick release the pressure and add the cheese. I use a mix of mozzarella and cheddar, but any cheese will do!
Then slowly add milk (up to about a cup) until it’s just the right level of creamy. Then enjoy!
Ingredients
- 16 oz pasta
- 4 cups chicken broth (or water)
- 2 tbsp. butter
- 1 tsp. pepper
- 1 tsp. salt

- Add the cheese and add milk as needed until it's the right consistency.
