Most dads are truly “the the guy that has everything.” That can make finding a Father’s Day gift feel daunting. Before you resort to yet another tie, consider some fun items he could enjoy with the family, or even trendy items. Some trends happen because they truly are products people love, not just for a name brand.
Here’s a list of great Father’s Day gift ideas. While I may have linked to a specific brand, consider it an idea and hunt for similar options if something listed isn’t quite in your budget.
Tip: If you have siblings, this is a great holiday to pool your resources and get something bigger while keeping it affordable for everyone.
Father’s Day Gift Ideas
3D Printer starting around $200
The Creality Ender 3 V3 is a top seller on Amazon with over 26,000 reviews. These are perfect for a techy dad that enjoys messing around. There are files you can download online or he can create his own designs. Send the file straight to the printer and he’s off creating! We gave one to my husband 3-4 years ago and he’s made everything from small figures for the kids to actually useful things like a tightener for my daughters cello bow that she wasn’t strong enough to do herself (we are pondering selling that creation now).
Banjo, Mandolin, Guitar
Have a dad that likes to pick at music? Consider adding to his collection with a smaller stringed instrument. He can find tons of youtube videos and online tutorials or just enjoy picking out his own tunes. Most of these start around $80 for decent instruments and can go as high as you want.
Tip: Look at local pawn shops or even on facebook marketplace for cheaper used options.
Glass Bead Making Kit
Dad’s can be creative too! This is a great way to bring out their creative side but in a totally manly way. What better gift than one that lets you play with fire?! These glass bead making kits have everything you need to make beads and other small items. They will probably get creative and branch out from there, but you at least got them started!
Tool Set
This is definitely in the list of classic gifts and one that every store will convince you he needs. Sometimes classic and practical is a great gift though, plus this is pretty affordable. Grab new drill bits, a new socket set or other similar smaller items to put together into a gift. Another easy addition, a pair of work gloves. Can you ever have too many?
Golf…Anything
If you have a golfing dad odds are you’ve given him golf balls for the last 15 years, so branch out into something a bit more creative. A putting green set for the house, new golf club protective covers from his favorite team, set up a golf lesson with a local Golf Pro. This is a big category with a lot of great options, just take a year off the golf balls and try something fun!
Pickle Ball Set
For Dad’s that are semi-athletic help him join the latest craze with his own Pickle Ball set. These are very affordable! To make him use it you could throw in a few lessons or find him a pickle ball group nearby to join.
Hat or Wallet
Since I included the tool set above it’s only fair that we include other classics. I would encourage you to get creative here too though. Grab a baseball cap for his favorite team, or a favorite spot he’s vacationed in the past. If you get a wallet, take a minute and print out a picture or two and already personalize it for him!
Rain Coat
Ever searched for a great rain coat? Turns out if you want to get one that actually works they are pricey and make for very nice gifts. If your Dad loves to travel, spend time outside, or even attend sporting events this could be the perfect gift. Look for coats that actually say “waterproof” not weatherproof, it’s a really big difference. Read all the reviews too.
We grabbed these REI raincoats before heading up to Maine and they handled everything New England weather threw at us. They are even on sale right now!
Camera
It may seem so 1990 to give someone a real camera, but believe me the zoom and clarity of a nicer camera can never be matched by a cell phone. On the Maine trip I just mentioned our cell phones got a picture of a lighthouse, the real camera picked up the fact that all around on the rocks below were seals. Obviously you can spend a ton here, so if you are pondering this ask Dad what he would want in a camera and if he already has a brand that he likes or has been wanting.
Knife
Anyone else have a dad that answers “does anyone have a knife?” with the classic “am I wearing pants?” If so, then believe me a new knife is always a great gift. Even if he has a ton, he’ll be just as giddy for a new one. Gerber is a great brand for well made, yet affordable knives, as well as Kershaw that is a tad more expensive but very good!
Camping Chair
Whether he loves the outdoors or is more of a glamper, nothing makes camping more fun than a great chair sitting by the fire. A top choice is the GCI Outdoors rocking camp chair. It folds down for storage and is super comfortable.
Bird Feeder
The older we get the more bird focused we are. Bring out his inner bird lover with a new bird feeder. You can even go fun and get the anti-squirrel options so he can watch birds and be entertained by squirrels! Other accessories to consider would be extra bird seed, suet, and a shepherds hook to hang it.
Solo Stove
These stoves are super hot… pun totally intended. Solo Stove has become a big brand that folks love! These are wood burning stoves that have an ash pan for easy clean up. In general a fire pit would make a fun gift so don’t get upset if you can’t handle the name brand price. Find similar knock off versions for a fraction of the price too.
