At this time of year, it seems like we have a steady stream of candy coming into our house. With multiple kids in different activities and all the approaching holidays, it’s nonstop! I decided to try using my simple cake mix cookie recipe and see if I could use up some of the candy. This is not only a great idea to make a dessert that’s easy to take to another function, but you could also freeze these cookies and save them for Christmas cookie exchanges.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies (made with cake mix!)

Easy Candy Bar Cake Mix Cookies Recipe

I started by raiding all the candy that my kids have gotten recently. I avoided hard candies or anything gummy, because I wasn’t sure how those would do when baked. Thankfully, there were lots of chocolate options!

I unwrapped everything and laid it out on my cutting board.

I did very rough chops of the candy without overthinking it.

I then pulled out a box of cake mix I got for less than $1 on a recent sale at Kroger. Any cake mix will work, as long as you think the flavors will go together!

Then you’ll need 1/2 cup of oil and 2 eggs (ignore the recipe on the back of the cake mix).

Mix together those, then add in the candy bars. I also threw in some M&Ms!

Stir it up until it’s all evenly mixed.

Then roll it into balls and put them on a cookie sheet (I used a silicone pad underneath).

Bake for 10-12 minutes until they’re just cooked.

After they’ve had a few minutes to set, remove the cookies to a cooling rack.

This combination of chocolate cake mix with chocolate candy was delicious! You could also do a Funfetti mix with M&Ms for something colorful, or if you have a lot of white chocolate candy, mix that with white cake for something totally different. The possibilities are endless!
