To get the best deals you want to focus on rewards deals that tell you to buy a certain number of items, NOT deals that are looking for a set dollar amount.  For example buy (2) Head & Shoulder items.  The coupon codes will affect the amount needed to earn the reward and will mess up deals requiring a set $$ amount purchased.
