If you are not earning rewards at your pharmacy, you are missing out on easy savings! Top drug and grocery stores offer rewards when you use them to fill your prescriptions. All you have to do is join the store’s free loyalty program to begin earning points and coupons towards future store purchases.

With all the options out there, I went ahead and made a list of what the top pharmacies offer so you can decide which one provides the best perks for you.

CVS Pharmacy

CVS Pharmacy has one of the best loyalty programs out there. They actually have two different programs to reward you for shopping with them. This extends to filling prescriptions. I’ll start with their free program.

ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards

The ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards is linked to your ExtraCare loyalty allows you to earn up to $50 ExtraBucks Rewards annually. You earn credits for filling prescriptions, getting immunizations or enrolling a family member. Even better, each family member on your account has the potential to earn up to $50 ExtraBucks, including pets!

Here is how it works:

For every 10 credits earned, you get a $5 Pharmacy & Health ExtraBucks Rewards. Earn 1 credit when you fill or refill a prescription or enroll a family member. Earn 3 credits when you fill or refill a 90-day prescription, create a CVS.com account and link your prescriptions, or get a flu shot and all your immunizations. Once you earn 10 credits, you will receive your $5 reward. Simply send it to your linked ExtraCare card and use it on your next non-pharmacy purchase.

CarePass

If you are a frequent CVS shopper, you may want to consider supercharging those savings and opting into the paid CarePass program. CarePass members receive all the same benefits as ExtraCare members and then some. Membership costs $5 per month or $48 per year. Each month, however, you receive $10 ExtraBucks to spend on any purchase, so you’re essentially getting a FREE $4 or $5 monthly depending on if you pay monthly or annually. For those who frequent CVS, this is a no-brainer. Get up to $60 extra to spend every year in addition to the potential $50 ExtraCare Pharmacy & Health Rewards. Combine that with coupons and sales to score BIG savings at CVS all year long! There are other benefits, but since we’re talking about filling prescriptions, I’ll just mention the added perk of getting free delivery for select prescriptions.

CVS Pharmacy benefits also extend to locations inside Target stores!

Walgreens

The Walgreens loyalty program is known as myWalgreens. You earn 1% Walgreens Cash rewards on the amount you spend out of pocket in-stores and online, including the amount you spend on prescriptions. You earn 5% on Walgreens brand or Nice! products.

Walgreens also has a paid program, the Prescription Savings Club, which may be worth it if you don’t have insurance and shop their store brand items often. Individual membership is $20 annually or pay $35 annually for a family plan with up to 5 members, including pets. As part of the club, you will receive discounted rates on three tiers of Value-Priced Generics, plus you can get one 90-day medication for the price of two 30-day refills. Even if you have insurance coverage, you can still join the Prescription Savings Club and receive the discount if it provides a lower price than your copayment. In addition to discounted medications, you will earn 10% back on every purchase of Walgreens brand or Nice! products. This is double the amount you earn with the free myWalgreens account! Simply swipe your card in store. The bonus credit will be added immediately onto your card, so the next time you scan your card at checkout, the bonus amount will be deducted from your next qualifying purchase total.

Rite Aid

The Rite Aid Rewards program allows you to earn points when you shop online, in-store, or pick up prescriptions. You can redeem points for BonusCash to use towards future non-pharmacy purchases. Every 1000 points can be converted into a $2 BonusCash reward.

For non-government-funded prescriptions:
250 POINTS per 30-day or less prescription pickup
750 POINTS per 31-day or more prescription pickup

For government-funded prescriptions:
10 POINTS per $1 spent on co-pay (not to exceed 250 points per prescription)

Additionally, you can earn 250 points per eligible immunization given at an in-store pharmacy location. The maximum points value earned for prescriptions is limited to $75 annually per account. Prescription rewards are not available in NY or NJ.

Kroger

The benefit of using Kroger Pharmacy is all about saving at the gas tank. Earn 25 Fuel Points for every non-federally funded prescription and 1 Fuel Point for every $1 you spend out-of-pocket for federally funded prescriptions. Earn 75 Fuel Points for each 90-day prescription. Every 100 Fuel Points earned is valid for 10¢ off per gallon!

Harris Teeter

Harris Teeter also rewards fuel points for filling prescriptions at their pharmacy. Each non-federally funded prescription is 50 fuel points. Federally funded prescriptions earn 1 point for every $1 you spend out-of-pocket for new, transferred and refilled prescriptions.
