Since we are now debt-free (as of December 2011) our goal is to build up wealth. We have a specific goal to have a certain amount of money in savings by May 1st. We set our goal and made a plan to achieve it. One other goal is to help others to reach where we are (smarter and quicker). We have a number of friends in the same plight we have spent most all of our married life—we are ready to “pay it forward”.

Building an emergency fund and sticking to a budget
Thank you for posting information about financial goals.
Yes, our family has discussed several goals for this year, and we’ve tried to be realistic about each goal. Instead of stating that we will pay off ALL of our debt, we’ve re-stated that goal to name a specific bill to be paid off. We’ve talked to our children (4 teenagers) about helping with the monthly expenses by helping to plan our dinner menus, find the coupons, and stick to a certain $$$ amount for each grocery shopping trip. One of my children was very proud during the first week back to school after the holidays when she told me that she and her sister helped to save almost $20 this week by packing their school lunch instead of buying lunch.
Ideally, I think the main goal this year for our family is to keep better track of every penny we spend while also setting aside a specific amount each month for saving and debt reduction.
So, to sum it up ($$$, that is) we are on a mission to be more disciplined in our spending/saving for 2012!!!
pay off my car and save even more at the grocery store.
One of my goals would be to pay off some credit cards! (those things kill you) :)
We having been following Dave and working hard to get out of debt, but we have never been able to take Financial Peace. My goal is to pay off credit card debt, my car, and student loans in 2012. I’ve been working at it for 2 years straight while working full time and paying for college tuition full time on my own, no loans and no financial aid. I know have 5 credit cards down to 3. Looking forward to a debt free life and hope that with Dave Ramseys help I can get there!

I want to be debt free! On our way but sure could use the extra help!
To buy a house!!!
To start to pay off things & workI joyfully instead of owing others :)

My husband and I were just married in October. Our goal is to raise a family with his salary as a police officer, so I can be a full time, stay at home mom (which can be challenging on a salary such as that, but we are both determined). Being in our 20’s, we want to have a fantastic financial beginning and avoid debt.

We also need to save for our future needs as we saw the problems we had getting my mom settled into a nursing home as she had absolutely no plans for living into her 90’s. We don’t want our kids to have the isues and problems that we’ve run into with this.
To pay off some debt!
I want to be absolutely debt free. That means, paying off a credit card, student loan, and a car.

Getting out of debt and building an emergency fund!
My main goal is to be free from needing credit cards to make ends meet at the end of the month, to save for the “what if’s” and have money in the bank to fall back on instead of credit cards. I also want to teach my 11 yr old how to be more responsible with money.

To complete my 3 month emergency finance fund, and to start saving for our next vehicle so we can purchase with cash.
I am a stay-at-home mom. We live off of my husbands salary alone and would really like to own our own home someday. So our financial goal for this year would be to be able to save for a substantial down payment.
My 2012 goal is to get real about my financial future. It is time to get my head out of the sand and change 30 year old habits.
My husband and I are in our early 30’s and would love to be able to get past our financial struggles. Our ultimate goal for 2012 is to:

3. Start a family of our own to leave a legacy of financial freedom
we’ve been DR fans for years! Never had the opportunity to take FPU and would LOVE to! Our goal is this year is to continue to work on Baby Step #2, paying down debt. We are pinching every penny, getting intense about the debt snowball, and living intentional lives.
I am a big DR fan and started working on my financial goal in 2011 by taking on extra jobs for extra money. My goal is to get out of debt and begin to build the life I want for myself. Couponing and extra work is helping, but I would love to participate the program to help push me forward.
for 2012 , I would like to get the credit card paid off and the car loan payment down because we will soon have a second child going to college. Husband hurt his back at work last year and we have been struggling a little bit since then. Our goal would also be to pay off some extra on kids college loans and try to build our savings back up for emergencies…..
We had to repair our house a year and a half ago. It caused us to go into debt by 23,000. It feels like that loan is going nowhere due to my husband being out of a job. I’m only able to make the minimum payment each month. I know Dave could help us out and see where every dollar is going. I just need his guidance. Thanks for offering this giveaway. I really need it!

Pay off the credit card and learn not to use it anymore! Learn to pay for things with cash. I hope I am a winner. I literally just called a local church last week to see about a Dave Ramsey class!
My goal is to continue to pay down debt and get closer to having just a mortgage payment as my only debt

Baby #2 is coming in June and we are contemplating becoming a 1 income family, so we need to learn to live within a new budget and determine if it is even realistic for us to do so.

To be completely debt-free by the end of 2012!
To start putting money into a savings account, and start an emergency fund. And to pay off my husbands huge shed he bought last year!
I don’t think it would be possible with our household income to pay off all our student loan and car debt in one year, but I would like to pay off a big chunk of it this year. I have always wanted to take this class to get my husband & I on the same page, but have always felt it was stupid to have to pay so much for a class when you are obviously already having trouble with finances.
I would like for us to pay way down our student loan debt (combined total of $50k) & buy a house!!! I love dave ramsey, but I have yet to go through FPU or get any of the workbooks, books, etc. :)

After struggling to overcome some serious personal issues in our household which left us in financial ruin, our goal this year is to get our finances back on track now that our lives (with God’s continual guidance) are looking up. We are excited to see what He has in store for us, and this would be the perfect start to our new life of financial freedom. With baby #2 due is less than a month, we would love the opportunity to win this set from Dave Ramsey! We have heard nothing but wonderful things about him! Thank you so much for this opportunity.

I have 2 children 13 & 15 and I am really starting to panic about college. I stayed home for years with them thinking that’s what was important then I woke up one day and thought YIKES! what will we do for college!
I would like to be able to save some money so I didn’t have to borrow all the time.
Our goal is to eliminate our debt, master a budget and get on with living our lives instead of worrying about who we owe how much $$ to. :)
Goals…to spend less and save more!
Goals…to spend less and save more!
I would like to pay off our outstanding bills and put more away in our emergency fund!
We’ve gone from a two income two person family to a one income three person family. Trying to budget, save, repair, etc is an uphill battle that

We’re putting away “car payments” in savings now, anticipating a vehicle purchase in 2013. With luck we will be able to pay cash for our next car!
Paying off credit cards and starting a retirement fund. Also would like to go on a vacation. Since my husband got back from deployment we haven’t been able to save any money to go any where nice. Would love to spend some time as a family enjoying each other.
I would love to eliminate all of our credit card debt and start college savings for our children.
I am a stay at home mom who is also on disability. Right now my husband and I are living pretty much paycheck to paycheck and would love to pay off some hospital bills and also try to start paying off our home loan!

Save for a down payment on a used SUV….ours needs to be replaced (it just rolled over 230K miles!)
Grow a larger garden this year and put up canned foods to save on our grocery bill
We plan to rebuild savings.
Pay off out credit card
I don’t know much about Dave Ramsey but I have seen you post things about him in the past. We are really interested in being debt free. We do pretty good at putting money in savings but it still seems impossible to pay off a mortgage. We would really benefit from learning more about how debt free is really possible.
Wanna get started on getting rid of student loans.
We just paid off our car and would love to start putting money in a college savings account for our 9 month old son. We have one credit card that is also close to being paid off which will happen this year. We have been only paying cash for needs and wants for the last three years and will continue to do so!!
Our goal Is to become almost debt free besides our home this year. Thanks to Dave and some of his books we’ve read and to listening to him on the radio. My husband and I have been married for 7 years now and if we would have only known then what we know now we would be completely debt free! Would love to win this:) thank you for the giveaway!!!
our goal is to pay off the $6,000 in dental costs our family incurred last year!
While most of our 2012 goals are based around finances, the main goals is actually paying down credit card debt. We can then move from those payments to paying off our auto loan early and up dating our house a bit. I’m a single mom (well, currently going through a divorce) and my hopes for this year are to finalize my ugly divorce and get the lawyer paid (No coupons for that! LOL!), get the one credit card that I have paid off, and to get a nice place for my kids and myself instead of living in a run down rental. Going from being a stay-at-home Army wife to a single working mom has really taken a toll on myself and my children. I just want to get out from under this umbrella of debt created by this divorce and be able to move on with my life.
Pay off our home
My husband and I have nothing for retirement. We are in great need of help. To stay within budget on groceries…no extras in the cart!
My financial goal for 2012 is to build my savings. Every little bit that trickles into my savings account will be a personal victory for me. Between student loans, bills and paying for a wedding it will be more than difficult. But I believe nothing worth having can come without a little (or sometimes a lot) of sacrifice.
Financial goal for 2012: To tithe and really leave all of our finances up to God.
Our financial goal: to pay additional amount on our monthly mortgage in order save money for college of my girls after we pay our house.

pay off at least one car
Get rid of credit card debt! Start saving for a newer car purchase.
Would love to be able to earn/save enough to have half of our international adoption paid for.
Having just retired we need to roll over retirement savings into something that will make money and not be too risky but we have a LOT to learn.
Our goals for 2012 is to pay our credit card debt off. With only one income and a house of three it seems like it is impossible. I am not good with money at all so this would teach me everything I need to know. This would be a great way to start my new year off right. Thanks for the chance to win this!!!
My husband and I are trying to pay off debt so that when we start a family (HOPEFULLY this year:-)) we can hopefully have a little stress taken off of us financially. We are trying to be good stewards of the money God gave us and get prepared as much as possible to start a family.
My goal is to pay down credit card debt and build an emergency fund.
I am currently unemployed after the small business that I invested 16 years of my life to closed down in 2011. My goal for this year is to get off unemployment and build our savings back up that we had to dip into. Also need to pay off medical bills from my surgery in November.

My husband and I have moved around 6 times in the last 4 years for jobs. The moves have been beneficial for our family, but has taken it’s toll on our pocket book. We need some hands on training to keep from increasing our debt. I have been trying for years to use cash only, but something always comes up that requires more money, etc. I need my husband on board and to actually see the benefits of Dave Ramsey’s advice. Thanks!!

We have created a budget to pay off all of our debt over the next two years, then start to pay down on our home. With $10,000 a year in daycare, cars falling apart, etc. It is hard ot maintain the beans and rice mentallity. Dave is so great at re-energizing you to want to live like no one else, so you can, live like no one else:)
I’m going to try to cut back on my discretionary spending and put it towards savings instead.

My financial goal for 2012 is to make the small business (antiques shop) that my husband and I own profitable. I’m happy if we make the shop rent some months. It would be really nice to actually make a profit.

To try and pay off credit card debt and save all the money we can.
My goal for 2012 is to learn how to better manage our money. In addition to helping pay our bills, we have recently taken on the responsibility of supporting my brother and his 3 children until he is able to find a job. We are also helping with my parents medical bills. We are trying to save for a wedding that we have been putting off due to money issues and would like to start a family of our own. We definitely need to pay off a few things and learn to better manage our money in order for our dreams to become a reality while helping our family that has been fortunate enough to help us in the past, but is not longer able.
Our goal is to set up an emergency fund and start paying off one car payment! We love Dave!
Pay off my credit card!
My goal is to pay off my credit card & to grow my small business so that I may create my own financial freedom & employee other people.0
I hope to have the opportunity to use the FPU gift to learn how to correctly create a budget and stick to it, to get caught up on our bills, and some day pay off the enormous amount of debt created when our business died during the economy downfall.
My family’s number one goal for 2012 is to PAY OFF CREDIT CARDS.

Our family goal is to pay off all medical bills by the time our new addition arrives in September! Also we want to own a house before 2013!
Our goal is to pay off our credit card debt this year.
To increase savings..and to come up w/ a doable budget (my husband has a job that’s base + commsn.)
I am 21 years old and just got engaged! Our financial goal this year is to prepare ourselves financially for marriage. We want to make sure we make a financial plan so we do not end up with bad debt. This package would be great for us because education on finances is vital before marriage!
My main financial goal this year is to be able to set up an emergency fund for my family, unfortuanly working for a small non-profit makes it hard, but i am doing my best!
I hope to start saving more for future expenses like college.
My goals are to stick to my budget and establish a savings account with an emergency fund. Also, to start paying off my students loans, even though I’m still going to school. Its going to take a lot of effort and planning, but I’m hoping to make it happen!
Single mom who’s on Baby Step #2… my goal is to be through Baby Step #2 in 2012, and have 2 months in my emergency fund…
I would really like to put more in savings and start a college fund for our daughter this year.
Just received a discharge on the bankruptcy we filed 4 years ago. First financial goal for this year is to get caught up on bills and stay current with them. Then we will see were we go from there. Have 2 in college this year and because of poor planning on our part, the fact that we lost everything in a housefire and had to rebuild, these two are having to pay their way through college. With Fox’s,grace, we will get by.
That’t God’s grace.
Our goal is to learn how to make ends meet on one salary and to be able to save for our 2 daughters college education.
My financial goals this year include budgeting for EVERYTHING and trying to save more.
I lost my job 2 months ago and I’m getting married in two months. I didn’t want to bring my debt into this marriage and burden my fiance and soon to be husband. In 2012 I want to be able to reduce any debt that has built up from the result of my time being unemployed. Hopefully, I will find a job soon and then all I will need are the tools to get me on track to starting my new chapter debt free.
My goal is to SAVE money. We have no credit card debt and no car payments but we are not very good at controlling all of the everyday spending. With 5 kids something always comes up.
One of our financial goals this year is to pay off enough debt so that we can buy a commercial building to use for our business.
My goal is to use coupons and discounts whereever possible, maybe even haggle on price.
I will be divorced this year. I am a single mom to two teenagers. My goal for this year is to have my mortgage modified to fit my budget and have my spouse’s name removed from the loan. I also intend to pay off my debt to the IRS.
We plan to continue contributing toward our kids’ college funds and saving extra
toward retirement (above the teacher retirement that is already withheld). We
were blessed to go through Larry Burkett’s How to Manage Your Money course as
newlyweds, so we paid off all debt and built our home debt-free before any of
our 4 kids were born. We made a commitment to the Lord early in our marriage
never to go into debt again, for anything. That was over 13 years ago, and He
has taken good care of us ever since!
We want to start saving for our kids’ college education!
2012 goal to begin eliminating our family’s small debts- credit cards, etc. and start paying cash for everything.
I’d like to start paying off my student loans.
We’re having another baby this year, so our goal is to pay for all baby-related expenses in cash, despite having only one income. My husband and I have already made a plan and we’re following it diligently.
To be satisfied with what I already have……..
we would like to pay off our credit cards and save for fertility treatments so we can start a family credit card debt free :)
I am trying to make a dent in our student loans, so we can start saving for our daughter’s school!
Our goals are to contribute a significant amount (we are aiming for $200 per child but that is certainly downwardly flexible) toward our children’s college accounts, per month. We want to continue using coupons to decrease our grocery spending. We also aim to pay off our tractor in about 4-5 more months — yay! We would love to figure out how to get our mortgage paid off early as well.
My husband and I moved in together after two years of being apart. I was in a different state taking care of my mother who was diagnosed with cancer. This put a huge financial strain on us. We are slowly crawling out of the debt we created while living apart and trying to find time to see each other during our time apart. While it make our hearts grow fonder of each other, it put a huge financial strain on our family of 4. We can use any help available to us. We started out couponing but I believe Dave Ramsey could help us so much more then that. Please consider us in this giveaway. Thank you!
I’d like to take a much needed family vacation and pay cash for EVERYTHING!
Goals:
Build up 6 -12 months emergency savings
Save to purchase a card out right
Build up long term savings
My goal is to pay down a bunch of my debt and try to work up my savings. I can’t keep living by the skin of my teeth like I have been. Being young, it is a good lesson that I’ve learned but its time to stop!
Our goal is to stick to a cash-only system (with a budget, of course!).
My goal is to figure out a way to buy a used Honda Odyssey to cart my growing family around in! The old station wagon just won’t cut it anymore after Baby #3 arrives!
Goals: Build up 6 -12 months emergency savingsSave to purchase a car out rightBuild up long term savings
To stick to our budget and save, save, save!
I would like to pay off the line of credit behind my checking account.
After being a stay at home mom for a long time I started a small business last year. My financial focus this year is making that business profitable while paying off medical bills we incurred last year.
We have not done FPU but have been on Dave’s plan about a year. The goal this year is to get the van paid off(2.5 years ahead off schedule!!) Then on to the student loans.
Pay off our vehicles, leaving us with only our home debt. Replacing our flooring. Saving way more than we spend.
Pay off debt – especially medical and tuition bills from my child’s special needs school and hopefully start to save for college
When I made my ‘New Year’s Resolution’ for 2012, I decided that this year I would do my absolute best to only purchase products for which I have a coupon. For the past 2 years I have been on again, off again with using them. BUT, I DO know, when I get serious about using coupons I save a TON of money, have plenty of items to donate to charity and still have plenty for my family of 5. I plan on figuring out what I WOULD have spent without coupons and try to put that much money away, into paying bills, etc. It would be great to be caught up on simple bills, like water, elec., etc. We always are one month behind. I know there is a better way, we just don’t seem to get it right!!!
My goal is to pay off my student loans.
I really want to build up my savings account this year.
Completely pay off mortgage and have a healthy savings. Getting close to retirement and got to get really busy. Love Dave!!
My husband and I are on the baby step of elimating debt. We are hoping to have it complete by the beginning of next year. We have already paid off over 10k.

2012 goal is to pay off as much debt and start building an emergency fund.
I would love to be able to pay down our credit card debt by the end of 2012 and learn to manage our money in more useful ways instead of wasteful spending. I would love to be able to have the knowledge of better budgeting to help my family in the future & help my 4 year old son grow up knowing the value of budgeting. I don’t want him to fall into my footsteps and live a life pay check to paycheck. This will help my marriage be about love & devotion for my family again instead of wording about how we are going to pay daycare and the power bill. Southern savers has helped to learn how to coupon and save money, now I need the help to learn to budget better and pay off our debt and be debt free!!
To eliminate as much of our debt as possible this year and not incur any further debt.
My husband I have been listening to Dave Ramsey since August. Our financial goal for 2012 is to change our family tree by eliminating ALL of our debt (which includes selling our house and renting for cheaper while we pay our debt), and building wealth. We want our childrens children to be taken care of, and following this plan will help us get there!
This would be a blessing to us. We live in west Georgia and my husband recently took a job in upstate PA to try to keep us in our home and cars. He listens to Dave. We have both been wanting to take the FPU class. Getting our finances together would enable my husband and I the financial freedom we have desperately been seeking, and possibly get him home more often.
Our goal for this year is to pay down all our debt by at least 50 percent so we can purchase a home.
Oh my goodness. With 2 kids in college and one 2 years away from college, we are spending more than we are bringing in. A goal? To be able to save money AND start some much needed renovations on our house.
My goal for 2012 is to move closer to paying off my student loans so that I will have more flexibility to stay at home with our current child and future children! We plan to pay double on each monthly payment this year. I have wanted to participate in the financial peace university for a LONG time but never want to pay the 99 dollars lol, there is always some reason the budget is tight!
Love Dave’s insight and plans… this year we are finishing paying cash for my graduate education at Vanderbilt University and then moving on to Baby Step #3!
Pay off the credit cards!
Continue to knock out student loans.
Continue to add to our savings and retirement! Pay off debt!
To pay off all of our unnecessary bills.
We are trying to pay all of our credit cards off and never use them again. I loved Ramsey’s book “Total Money Makeover” and this package would be a GREAT help in our family’s total money makeover.
Set up a budget and fund an emergency savings acct.
My husband and I have been following along with Dave Ramsey for two years now. For the first time every we have a $1000 emergency fund and have paid off close to $30,000 in debt. Living off of one income it makes it hard, but we are up for the challenge. It may take us a little longer to accomplish all of our goals, but we will keep on. Our goals this year are to continue to pay off our debt and save money by making wise choices.
My biggest financial goal is to get out of credit card debt.

To pay off the credit cards and quit using the plastic!
Goal #1. Get our 6+ months of living expenses fully funded.
Goal #2. Get enough extra saved up so my husband can start flipping houses. (He usually gets laid off or else works extremely short weeks in the spring: his thinking is a house to fix up would be something to do, and extra income later on, as long as it does not dip into our 6 months of living expenses fund.)
Goal #3. Keep my grades high enough that between scholarships and one of the who knows how many jobs I’m trying to get, I’ll be able to pay for fashion school.. debt. free.
Goal #4. It would be great if we could end the year with enough in savings that when a foreclosure comes up in the area where we wanna move to.. we can grab it.
My goal this year is to graduate nursing school and begin getting my credit repaired so that, Lord Willing, in the next few years I can buy a home!
Our goal is to sell our house and use the equity we have to pay cash for a downsized house. We will then be DEBT FREE.
I would love to pay off all credit cards this year. Mine and my fiancee’s. Then I can make a dent in student loans.
I would so love to win one of these! I’ve been wanting to attend one of his seminars but we just cannot afford it!
I remember sitting down with a financial planner at 30 saying I wanted to retire at 50! Well now I’m 40 with 4 kids under 3. Don’t think I’ll be retiring at 50,but would love to have a larger nest egg set aside for the future to maybe retire at 65. That would be awesome
One of my financial goals for 2012 is to payoff credit card loans and increase my savings account. I would love to win this prize!
I want to start a college fund for my son.

Our goal is to save enough money so we family of 4 can get out of 2 bedroom place
This is the first year ever that we have created a budget. We are using envelopes. We could really use this to help us even further. We have been wanting to go to one of his classes. I created a budget to reduce our grocery, dining out, and random spending (going to get one thing coming away with 5 or 6) therefore blowing the budget.
We also would like to invest in a home since renting is crazy and wasteful. I could really use the help with something like this. I have no idea how you could be debt free after 9 years but I would love the ability to join in and be debt free too.
To save up for retirement and to start a college fund for my 4 kids.
Our family just completed the FPU and we are very thankful for all we learned. My sister in law would be the one I would send these materials to if I win this give away. She wants to take the class but the entry fee is not within her means.
One of my goals is to have money to take a vacation this yr.
I definitely need your help!
my husband listens to Dave Ramsey on the radio and our goal is to build a emergency fund this year. (among other things we want to implement.) It would be so great to win these to have available for reference!!!)
My Husband and I would love to be able to pay off all bills, so we can bless others in financial need.
cut my student loan in half this year
To continue saving for retirement, paying off credit cards and starting a savings account.
I would really like to be able to payoff our medical bills. Last year was really tough on us, we had 3 surgeries and a bunch of medical tests done on our son. We had a change of insurance half way through the year and it really did a whammy on our finances. We’ve listened to Dave Ramsey on the radio, but haven’t taken his class. Our medical bills are very high and taking the class would help us to get on track to paying this off or at least getting plan for paying it off.
I have allergies, and there has been mold growing on our windows, so we got someone to come out and look. We have to get a french drain put in under our house, and it’s expensive, so our goal is to figure out how to pay for that without borrowing. Also, found out we are pregnant! Excited, but we have a high deductible. We need help!
I love Dave Ramsey. We are currently working on baby step 2! Our goal is to be at least 1/4 the way through our debt snowball (of at least $40,000 :-/) by the end of this year!
Contribute more the retirement savings
To take a family vacation without being a financial burden afterwards.
To become DEBT FREE!
We want financial freedom to be able to give more! My friend and I were talking about this series and both missed out on the Mamapedia offer a week or so ago. We were disappointed that we didn’t take the opportunity. Winning this would be a God send!
We have been trying to get out of debt for a while now. we are doing pretty good, but now need some outside help.
I’d like to pay off the credit card debt we accrued while repairing damages to our house…
Pay off all my credit cards
After just having our second child, my goal is to be able to provide the childhood for my two boys that I had; to be able to tell them no out of principle v. telling them no because of money. To do this, I know we need to get out of debt and be smarter with the money that we have.
My goal this year is to pay off all my credit card debt. My husband and I used his gi bill and credit to help fund our life while we were in college(we also had two kids to pay for). Now that we have both earned our degrees we really want to pay off that debt and have some financial freedom!

Pay off my credit cards!!!!!
I have heard wonderful things about Financial Peace! Two of our main goals are to increase our emergency fund and start paying above the required payment on student loans.
Oh, where to start! First, I plan to make a plan : ). We are refinancing this month and will be saving $200 a month on our mortgage, and knocking off 6 years! A portion of the extra money is going into savings to start an emergency fund, and a portion is is going to go straight to credit cards (that’s what Dave recommends, right?). Our main goal is to be free of the revolving debt by the end of the year!
My goal is to create and use a spending plan in order to become debt free ($20,000 credit card debt and mortgage) and strengthen my marriage by working together with my husband on this. Our debt is currently negatively impacting our marriage and keeping us from freely following where God might lead us.
To be able to get out of debt. My husbands company shut down which we were heavily invested in and we lost everything. After always feeling behind financially, my husband and I figured out our annual income and I was shocked by what we discovered. While it is a tight income, there was NO excuse for us to be in such debt. For weeks that number haunted me and I was afraid that even after my husband graduates law school and we have a much higher income, we’d soon adjust our standard of living only to continue our legacy of debt. After reading “Total Money Makeover” we are learning strategies to not only live within our means but MUCH less. We’re working on our second week now and it’s hard but it will be so worth it once we meet our first goal of paying off our credit cards and car payment by this summer. 2012 is the start of us taking control of our money and health, and it feels good.

Our plan is in place to pay off the rest of our debt by March (3 years left of debut will be paid off in 3 months – yay!), and our next goal is to save up for our emergency fund.
My son has a major medical illness so we are constantly accruing medical bills faster than I can pay them. This year my goal is to have at least 50% of those medical bills paid by the end of 2012.

Would love to be in a position to purchase a new home in the next year or so!
we hope to build up an emergency fund and finish paying off our car
I owned a Curves franchise until May, 2011. It closed b/c of financial problems. My personal finances are a mess. My husband doesn’t make enough to pay for all of our bills, much less anything extra. I’m trying to start a home daycare, but that’s going to cost quite a bit of money in order to meet the compliance regulations. I’m a stay-at-home mother (I have 5 children), and even if I did get another job (which I’ve tried for 8 months to do), I would only make enough to pay for the gas to and from work & daycare. I’m better off staying at home with my child (all the others are in school). This daycare could bring in significant income for my family, all the while I would be able to stay home & not spend any “extra” money. I’m tired of collection agencies calling every day, and me not being able to even scrounge up $5 to make at least a little payment. I’m tired of being on government assistance. Our TV service has been cut off a few times, my husband cancelled his cell phone, and I’m constantly borrowing money from family members to buy gas for my own vehicle. We are blessed, however, to own our house & 2 vehicles debt-free. But, there’s still the insurances that go with those. My children deserve better, and I’m praying that one day we’ll be able to give them what they deserve.
Saving money in our TSP account, as well as paying off all medical/dental/orthodontic bills!
Our family’s financial goals are to “remain afloat” once our first baby arrives in April. Though we’re excited we are expecting a lot of changes in our bank account!
Our financial goal for this year is to contribute to our retirement (which we have not been able to do for many years!) as we continue to pay our bills and tithe! (Not in that order :)
To pay off my car and then start working on our mortgage.
Our Family’s financial goal is to become secure enough to put our 4 kids through college without ruining our future retirement goals.
Wow – I would so LOVE to win this to help get our family of seven out of debt. We really need to get rid of our credit card debt!
Pay off credit cards.
I had a few goals for this year. Number one is topay all bills before they are due; save for an emergency fund and then start paying stuff off.
The goal for our family is to start trying to live below our mean in order to try to start saving money for our son’s future.
Having lost my job a few months back; my financial goals have come to abruptly smack me in the face and now have my full attention. My goal for this year is to turn my part time ebay business into a full time income for my family. I began couponing last November and have saved hundreds already! I
have to make this work, my son graduates this year and begins college!
To finally finish paying off the credit debt that we incurred when my husband was laid off for two years and my medical bills from two hospital stays due to severe illness. I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Our goal this year is to use the money from my new job and my husband’s recent raise to pay down our small loan and student loans. Just keep living like we didn’t even have any increase in pay!
We’re both out of work, so we’re looking for work or income streams of any sort right now. (goal 1). Also trying to tighten up our belts – no eating out or buying new these days. I hope to change over to paying off debt again as soon as we’re working again.
I would really like to win so I can give it to my husband’s brother. The have no idea how to save and are overdrawn in the checking buying things they don’t need and can’t afford. I would love to share Dave’s knowledge with them. They really need it.
Our goal this year is to have no late fees for any bills and to follow Dave Ramsey’s advice to pay off our lowest debts.
My goal for this year is to be debt free except for our mortage.

We love Dave Ramsey– listen to every night on WSB Radio in Atlanta! One of our financial goals is to put enough inn savings to float us for 6 months if we need it.
I plan to save more. I need to tuck away more each month and try to spend less. I’m retired and my husband will retire in 5 years.
I have a terminal illness and despite how expensive medical bills can be my husband and I decided that our goal this year is to research Dave Ramseys plan and work it. I want to leave my husband and children debt free so that they will not have a financial burden when I am gone. And although I may not be here to teach them everything they need to know hopefully this example will put them on the road to financial freedom when they are grown.
God bless you friend . . . I am praying and rooting for you and your family!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pay off my credit card and make twice the payments on my student loans.
Our goal is to pay off our truck and start saving for emergencies.
This is a life changing plan that really works!! My husband and I read Total Money Makeover in late November. We are applying what we have learned and we will be debt free (excluding mortgage . . . but including pay-off of two vehicles and more) in 16 more months!!!! And thanks to Jenny, we are now saving an additional $500 / month!!!! So grateful for sharing hearts. Love Dave Ramsey’s motto: “Live like no one else today (frugality), so you can live like no one else tomorrow.” Being able to pass the blessings on to others in need.
I have started working Dave Ramsey’s plan after reading his books. My goal this year is to pay 1/3 of my largest debt that I have been chipping away at for nearly 10 years. I would love to take the Dave Ramsey class, and would love to win a free kit!
Donate more :)
Everything else in place
Thanks Dave Ramsey!

Am 53 and hubby is 55. He is self employed….Since age 45, I have been trying to focus on retirement but at that time I had teenagers and college pending….well now I have learned my lesson(a little too late?). I plan on taking charge, though and need all the help to ensure financial freedom in our retirement. Hubby has not helped me but has been engrossed in his day to day workday activities. I have no one to blame but myself….will continue to look ahead and Dave Ramsey, I admire you for your persistence in helping families like us!

My financial goal for this year is to save money to be able to use cash for Christmas purchases next year. I hate the stress Christmas time brings because of all the presents we need to buy and feeling like we don’t have enough money. My plan is to set aside so much every month and dedicate it to Christmas. I haven’t decided on the amount just yet, but whatever ends up being in the “Christmas Fund” that is all that we will spend for Christmas. It sounds good to me now, I just hope I can accomplish this throughout the next year.
Pay of my student loan and reduce my credit card debt by at least half or pay off completely!

I’m trying to expect the unexpected and trying to sock away money for those extra things that don’t cost a lot but add up quickly. For example, snacks at church functions. I’m trying to be more diligent about couponing too.

Over the course of 2010, I went from an 80K/year job to a 18K/year. I’ve drained my IRA and now I’m in the process of filing for bankruptcy. I’m a single woman, no kids, but am still drowning in debt. I do love Dave, have been reading his work for years and if not for the loss of salary I was on my way to being debt free. I’m selling off everything I can and have even sold my 17K Element in favor of a 3K Ford. My goal for 2012 is to make it to 2013 and if nothing else, still have my house and a better paying job.

Our financial goal for 2012 is to actually have some money in savings!!! And we have $200 already!! :)

My goal is to help my husband understand the pain and stress brings to our family. In the last 2 years we have lost 20% of our income by no choice of our own and in return we have gotten second jobs, sold everything we can, and cut everything we can and now we are hanging on a thread.

Wow! What an awesome opportunity!!! My husband is a contractor and we have had a rough couple of years! This year, I had my second child and decided it was in our best interest for me to quit my job and stay with my children! The best decision I have ever made! However, finances have become extremely tight … Extremely!!! We are having a hard time trying to figure out how to balance our finances and pay things off… I would give anything to be out of set! One of my financial goals for 2012 is to learn how to budget my money better so that I’m not living pay check to pay check. I’ve tried different ways to budget on my own but they were not successful. I need help!!!! As a single parent, financial freedom would definitely lighten my load!!!!

My financial goals for this year is to pay off the all our credit card debt. We currently own our own home and have no car payments just a lot of Stupid Tax as Dave says on his show. Our goal is to work on paying off our credit debt.
My financial goal for 2012 is to track more closely the money we spend to try and eliminate “unneccessary spending”. I have already realized that by doing this, I tend to buy less (realizing that I don’t really need everything I may want) The only debt my husband and I currently have is a car payment and mortgage. This year we plan to start building our savings.
I would like to save for our retirement.
Our plan is to finish paying off all of our small debts and our car by the end of the year! It’s been really tough (yesterday was my first real grocery trip this year), but we’ve survived!!!
My boyfriend of 4 years and I are planning on getting married soon so I would like to be able to save for our future (house, kids, new car, the works) as well as being able to pay off the debt we have now so that we can have a good place to begin in our marriage. We’re both public servants, I’m a Child Protective Services Investigator and he’s a police officer so we aren’t making a fortune here, but we do want the best lives we can have together and for when we start having kids. Any help that we could get to achieve these goals would be amazing!
My 2012 goal is to pay off debt & start saving money to buy a house.
We’ve been following the Dave Ramsey advice since getting married 2.5 years ago. We have successfully paid off most of our small debts and are now focusing on our mortgage. To pay off our debt so we can start saving money for our kid’s college funds
I want to pay for some renovations to my house in cash. I also want to pay for Christmas in cash this year. We always get it all paid for by the end of Jan. I would like it to be done before the end of December this year.
I plan to payoff our debt and start saving more money.
We are attending a Dave Ramsey Simulcast in March but hopefully before then we can be on a budget that works for us! The Financial Peace kit would be icing on the cake!!!
I plan on paying off my credit cards and my student loans- finally!
I reviewed my credit report because my credit score is so low. To my surprise, I found out that outside of my student loans & a mortgage I’m still trying to get my ex-husband to refinance, my remaining debt was a little more than $6k. With my student loans and the mortgage being current, it’s these very old debts that are weighing down my score. My goal for this year to eliminate those debts totally, improve my credit score & put myself in a better situation to do things like starting a small business. Looking forward to it!
I would love to pay off all our credit cards and our two sons college loans so we and they can be debt free. Thanks! Katrina
My husband and I have been married for a year and half and we are determined to be good stewards of our money. We are both young teachers trying to do what is right with our money. We save, I coupon, and we try to make daily smart decisions but still have $70,000 in student loan debt. Thank you for considering us for this…what a great giveaway!

Jenny – I have had my eye on Dave’s material for a couple of years – just never have the extra $ to put towards it. I’m 27 and my student loan payments of $350 a month are about to start on top of needing a new car in the near future and trying to help my mom pay off my grandad’s funeral. I want so bad to get my credit cards paid off, put a little away for a car, and pay off this funeral so I can get financially prepared for my student loans to kick in. Thanks for your giveaways and taking time to read this :) – A
2012 is going to be the best financial year of our lives thus far! We are going to get out of debt asap. :)
This year I would love to stop living on out paychecks month to month, and actually be able to save some money in order to be able to give our children valuable life experiences, like traveling and different cultural events. I would LOVE to be able to win this kit so that we could learn to do this from the best name in the financial budgeting world!

We have always dabled in the “Dave Ramsey type” style of budgeting but have never really taken that necessary and needed next step to our financial freedom. I love to listen to the impowering stories of those that have been successful and dream of the day we do can be right there with them. We really need the kick in the rear end to take that next step and I think this opporunity could be it. Fingers Crossed We make the next step to truly get out of debt! – Emily

Need more in college fund in a bad way

My goal is to make a total financial makeover since I have been disabled for 6 yrs. Now and for the last 2 yrs my husband has been sick and unable to work. We live on my Disability check so my goal would be to make our small monthly income work best for our family. I would like to save enough money to take my son on a real vacation he has gone without so much he desearves to have at least one good vacation. Laura A
My plan as a disabled person with a low income is to stop all catalogues coming into my home tempting me. I have bare boned down to the extended basic cable, cheapest package basic internet, no frills cell phone plan and I am still struggling. I HAVE started bank drafts for my utilities and credit cards to avoid late fees I can’t afford.I have budget billing on my enery billing and very energy wise. I have no home phone, As you know Social Security Disability is very low income, yet not low enough to qualify for help with food because I am by myself. My fico score is bad due to medical bankrupcy in 2006. I have my bank automatically put $10 per month into a savings account, As each credit card is paid off I plan to increase this. I have 7 cards with $20 – $35 per month with a total of $1900 credit card debt. I’m trying to pay off the highest interest card off first by paying a little extra than the minimun on those cards. I plan to compare my auto insurance and raise my deductible to $1000 to see if I can get a better rate. I try to be as frugal as possible and I still fear at 53, due to my health, I’ll never have that half year stash of emergency fund stashed away. My granddaughter told me the other day, “Granny, you never take us to the movies anymore.” I spoiled them for so long, Now we have plenty of arts & crafts, board games, and yard games.
Any suggestions for streching money under the poverty line?
Lower our student loan debt.
I got married in September so 2012 is our first full year of money management as a married couple. Our goals for this year include paying down our home loan for the remodel we did in 2011, tithing more to our church, and totally eliminating ALL credit card debt and maintaining $0 balances. We are so close to the last goal we can taste it. But it’s like the last 5 pounds of a diet…the last $400 seems to be the hardest!
My goal for 2012 is to maintain $0 in CC debt (recently achieved this!) and to avoid entering into new credit relationships as much as feasibly possible. This means getting a part-time job and using that $ to save towards a replacement car and save $ to send my daughter off to college.
I have returned back to school only taking one here & there. I’m changing careers and hope to go to school full time by the summer. This will mean I will have to quit full time job. My financial goal is to save as much money as possible and to pay off as much debt at the same time.
My goal for 2012 will be for my husband and I will continue to pay down our debt without adding any new debt. Which means that we should be debt free by the end of the year!

Start working to pay off student loan debt, working towards a new home, and providing for our first baby due in June!! I am recently graduated from college, and I really feel that I could benefit from the lessons Dave Ramsey teaches on how to better manager money, to get out of debt, and eventually how to even save money and be prosperous instead of scraping by. I know I am not the only American facing financial difficulties, but I would love the opportunity to be able to start young so that by the time our new son is an adult, mom and dad can give him the same sound advice and sense of financial peace that will hopefully change our lives now.

Since purchasing our first home at the end of 2010, it seems like everything that could go wrong did – my husband lost his job, I was 7 months pregnant so we racked up a lot of medical debt and then my husband had not one, but TWO kidney stone procedures done. We did what we could – I launched my own business working from home so I could be with the kids and not pay childcare costs, my husband found a great job (after 9 months of searching) and we learned the value of couponing. Our goal this year is to not go any deeper into debt and to pay off our 20 different medical bills!
We plan on paying off all the credit card debt and the car loan by November of this year! I cannot wait to start saving like crazy!

I graduated college January 2010 and have plenty of student loans I am trying to take care of along with many other typical adult payments/loans I have. I am getting married in May and we would like to start a family sooner then later so a goal we arer working on is trying to pay as much as we can on everything and go without eating out so much and buying things that are not necessary. It has been a hard change and we both wish we had some kind of guidance to see the bigger picture.

Our family has just gone through a MAJOR financial crisis. We are determined wtih God’s will to get our finances under control to avoid future crisis’. We can only do this with God’s help and the help of others who know more than we do. This program is what we are wanting to do with another couple and then share what all has happened with us in order to help others. We are looking for a free copy but I promise if we win we will use it and then share it FREELY to help others.

In 2011, I discovered that my husband, the man I had built a family and a life with, had been lying to me and cheating on me for years. Now a single mother of three young children, I am finding 2012 the year to find my inner strength and re-claim my independence. Part of this is financial independence. I am now a full time college student, and when I graduate I will hold my head high, knowing that I have bettered my life and my children’s lives not only financially, but in many other ways.

After almost 25 yrs of marriage and several attempts to set up a budget, we are now at the point of no return. A couple of yrs ago we consolidated our debt into line of credit and kept one card for overdraft protection. Big mistake!! Just like Dave talks about, our relationship with money hasn’t changed so we find ourselves actually DEEPER in debt and no lifelines left. I am finally serious and have been laboring over our current budget (on a very irregular income) for the last 3 weeks, adjusting it and really coming to understand what it means to label every $ BEFORE it leaves my hands. Wow! What an eye-opener!! Our goal is to make a serious dent in our line of credit and pay off our one credit card. I have a goal to pay off the 3 credit cards I have, and have 6 months of savings in the bank for my essentials such as house and utilities. I have never been able to save and this year I am not making any excuses started couponing this past November and have seen amazing results.
Our goal for 2012 is to move “The Management of our Finances” up on our list of things to do. Early in our marriage our finances were priority (I am an accountant…of course they would be..Right?) Over the last 3 years we have moved that very important task down lower on the list. It did not happen overnight but due to two layoffs and numerous medical issues with my husband – it became less of a priority. God is good and he has always taken care of us and I know he will in the future. Since one of us is unemployed right now – this class would be awesome to recieve as a gift. I have kept up with Dave Ramsey for many years but have never signed up for his class.
My goal is to try to on top of our debt!!
My goal is to be more frugal with my income.
My goal is to get our debt under control, get rid of all our credit cards, and be able to regularly give and tithe more.

Our family goal is to get out of debt. Financial burdens can wreak havoc on a family and it has ours. We have four in college. I am in college with my three children. Me and my husband work and it just never seems enough. it is like hanging on to a ledge without a safety net. We have tried to get out of debt and have failed everytime. The ironic thing is we are so in debt that we can not afford to buy Dave Ramsey’s kit.
I graduate from UGA in May of this year, one of my financial goals this year is to find a rewarding career in my field of study and pay off our credit card.

Pay off credit cards as fast as possible
I have over $140,000 in student loans and our family of 5 is living off of one income. It would be nice to be able to make payments on this debt. We do not have a lot of other debt but live paycheck to paycheck. In 2012 I would like to live without this overwhelming debt hanging over me with no means to pay toward it.
To learn how to get caught up on my finances so I can spend more time on raising money for my cousin who has a brain tumor and can’t afford the surgery.

So excited for your family. Great job on working hard to pay off your debt. One of my financial goals this year is to continue to pay down our debt and pay cash for my husband’s tuition, instead of getting my student loans.
To pay off our truck
Reduce credit card debt is a biggie for this year.
We just had a new baby so we have lots of bills. This kit would help me learn how to budget our money and reduce our debt. I need to learn how to spend wisely and still be able to provide for the needs of my family.
To establish financial stability to not have to use credit cards no more.
Save/raise enough money to take a mission trip to Kenya.

To be able to put my kids in day care
My husband and I are going to pay off one credit card (already paid off one!) and hopefully better than half of one car payment (already paid off one of these as well!). We are downsizing where we rent at so we can put more money toward paying off our debt, toward the long term goal of paying for a house with a 50% down payment.
My financial goal for this year is to pay off all credit cards.
Pay off my credit card and not put any more on it.
Get rid of my debt so I can help and bless not only the Church but others.
Our goal is to actualy have a budget down on paper and stick to it so we know what we have done and where we are going.
Try to keep our expenses under budget.
Be debt free
Learn how to pay off my mounting debt!! I currently in college, two kids and trying to make it on one paycheck!! Coupons has helped us but we need to find other money to pay out other debts like student loans!
Begin a plan to get debt free and have peace, so that I can retire and help with my grand baby…..
My financial goal is staying on our plan for paying off our debts. We love the inspiration that Dave Ramsey provides. When I wonder if we can really do it, I like to read some of Dave’s material to boost my confidence that we can make it to being Debt Free. Thank you!
I would love to get out of debt and stop living beyond our means…the peace that would follow that accomplishment would be priceless~
We are within 1200 of being debt free…2012 is to become debt free and STAY there so we are financially able to help those who need it.
Our goal is to actualy have a budget down on paper. And to stick to it so we know what we have done and where we are going.
Our goal is become real about our spending. Budgets are great but do not always work in my experience. We have our “cushion” saved and now we are trying to cut back where we could be saving more. We need to start putting away for my student loans, and learn to use the money we are saving to pay off debt. We have one credit card down already and would love to learn the best ways to crush it!
My goal is to always live debt free. I listen to Dave on the radio all the time and always think, “One day I will take his course.” I currently am renting an apartment and would love to have enough money set aside to buy my first house.
I am a single mom of 3 kids, a full time student and have a full time job. I graduate with my BBA degree in May 2012. We consistently use coupons with store sales and incentives to help lower our food bill. My goal for this year is to find a good job with benefits for my family, and to be able to use the money we save with coupons to deposit in a bank account for a cushion. My goal is to be able to provide for my family and teach them that just because you make extra money, you don’t have to spend it. You can still use coupons to help build your savings and investments.
I would like to be stable enough to actually have a savings account for emergencies and savings for both children’s college. They are 4 and 6, would love to take part of this life changing event.
I am trying to set a budget and actually follow through with it for the entire year. I am trying to start a savings plan that will allow me to have some money saved up to not live paycheck to paycheck.
My goal this year is to be more financially responsible instead of letting things slide a little. My son was born in August, and my husband and I would really love to be able to buy a home of our own before his first birthday. I would also love to know how to be a better budgeter. I hope to learn how to make my finances better so that I may be able to teach my son when he is older.
I would like to start a budget and actually stick with it! My husband and I struggle with this every payday, living paycheck to paycheck. We have 3 children, who are always needing something whether it be clothes, lunch $, or funds for activites and I would love to be able to all this with my budget plan.
I would also like to be able to understand what budgeting means and be able to pass this along to our children, so they aren’t struggling like their parents have!
My husband and I have recently started getting our lives back on track with God being the center of it. Our life together now is so much better than I ever thought it could be, but as my husband is the one that takes care of the tithes and our bills I believe that there is more for us to learn in our finances so that we could have peace of mind and know what we are actually able to do for others in our family. I would love to have the chance to learn more and to show our children the right way to manage their finances later.
to begin my “snowball” as Dave Ramsey puts it…with the hopes of paying down $3000 of debt
My Husband and I would be so blessed to receive such life improving information. Both of us work and we have 4 children between us that we would love to be able to send to college and improve their cultural enlightenment. The knowledge to do this would surely help us achieve our goals to financial peace.
My husband and I are both 39 and we have no savings at the moment. Last year we were finally out of debt and living by a cash only rule. However, this year this proved impossible even with help from family. We went deeply into debt in order to visit family because we have twin nieces who we had never even seen due to our no cash rule. We also have two teenage children who are going to have to pay their own way through college. Our oldest is autistic and there is no way I can see him doing that on his own. Our youngest is planning on attending a very expensive college. We need to get back on track and have some sort of emergency cash to lean on.
My husband just recently walked out on me and my 2 kids. He has left me with a huge amount of debt and I’m not sure where to even start. I have heard about Dave Ramsey through some people at church and would love to get my hands on this:). I don’t have any other option but to get out of debt but it seems like an impossible task. This could really change our lives. Thanks for consider my family for this amazing prize.
I am in the process of teaching my kids the ways of financial responsibility but feel like such a hypocrite since I am not sure that I really know anything about it myself. I would like to educate myself before I teach my children wrong.
My goal is to start by beginning to write everything down so I know where our money goes!! It’s a start!
Our financial goals for this year is to pay off our smaller debts so we can start
paying at least half a payment more on our mortgage to get it paid off in 10 years earlier than we had first plan. We are really motivated to do this and a free program would motivate us even further!! My goal is to be a role model of my daughter, who is 18 mos. old, so that she thinks about how to stay out debt with the skills I will be modeling for her.
I would love to get my credit cards paid off
Our big goal is to be financially secure enough to adopt a child. We do not have children yet but, are ready to welcome this type of joy into our home.
if its not to late, I would love this to help get debt free
I want and need help getting Debt Free.
Where are the winners posted?
Would love to take a Dave Ramsey course or see him live! We are trying
so hard to get out of debt (like everyone else) and this would be the
perfect motivation to jump start our money makeover. We have 2 young
children so of course the goal is to pay off all our consumer debt
within the next few years so we can concentrate on saving for college
and an emergency fund.
I would love to have some kind of safety net, as of now we have no savings.
We were just discussing about taking a Dave Ramsey course so we can get rid of a loan or two. It would be a great way to start putting away some savings and start a college fund for our teenager! =) Thanks for having this sweeps!
My goal is to pay off my school loans
My goal is gain freedom and authority over my finances. My husband and I are taking back the freedom to purchase without credit and we are determined to teach all we come in contact with to be free from the bondage of debit. We are called to freedom not bondage and we take back what is rightfully ours. The enemy will no longer have a hold on our finances and we believe that God will help us to stand strong through each obstacle.
I want to increase my savings.
Our financial goal for 2012 is to get our emergency fund fully stocked. We just paid off all of our debt (other than our mortgage) and cannot wait for baby step3. We are hoping to enter the international missionary field within the year so this is a very important step for us.
I look forward to reading his insights in the paper. I have several friends that are using Ramsey’s financial plan and are succeeding. This is the perfect opportunity to get started on our path to financial freedom.
