Looking for some fun new learning toys for your kids?
The Brilliant Creations Advanced Notebook from VTech is an educational toy laptop inspired by the real thing and designed to teach your child essential skills for success. The notebook features a 4.5″ LCD color screen. It includes 120 learning activities that teach language arts, science, math, foreign language, creativity and more to help your child get ahead in school. The Notebook even has a mouse and touchpad so your child really feels like they are using a grown-up laptop.
VTech sent us a notebook to try out and review. I think my girls must have x-ray vision, because the minute the box arrived they knew it was for them. It says it is for ages 5-8, but my 3 year old had it figured out within minutes. There are a few things I love, the biggest being that it doesn’t require tons of cartridges to play games. So far the 120 games that are on it have kept us very entertained. I also like that all of the games are related to reading, art, math, and other subjects. Not that I don’t let my kids just play games, but I feel better when our play is still educational. The other feature I like is that it has an external power adapter, meaning I’m not going to pay out the nose for batteries. It does run on batteries if you want to mobile, but at least there is another option!
The only thing I would mention negative about it is the graphics display. It’s not as advanced as we adults might expect, my kids could care less though. If graphics are important to you I would recommend that you pay a bit more and go for the Innotab (VTech’s new tablet for kids).
This notebook is suggested for children ages 5-8 and can be found at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, VTech and Amazon.
He would love the fact that he had his own ‘computer’. I would love the fact that while he was playing, he was also learning :-)

I’m pretty sure she would love everything about this–she likes to play games on my computer but it’s so old and slow there isn’t much. Right now she is into math (yea for me, I’m a math teacher!) so probably those games. This would be such a great win!
Oh my son loves computer games….he would like the fact that he is learning but having fun doing it (he loves to learn and wants to know as much as his older brother) and could take it in the car with him.

My daughter is always trying to steal my laptop–I even loaded a program called Toddler Keys onto my netbook so she could play on it! I love that you have the option to use batteries or the power adapter!

My nephew is a computer geek at the ripe old age of 7. He spends every extra minute on the computer. I think he would extremely enjoy having his “own” computer.
I think all 3 of my kids would love actaully getting to touch all of the bottons on the laptop! Right now we have don’t allow them to use the keyboard, just the mouse.

I think my little girl, age 6, would love this laptop. She wants an iPod Touch but I told her she was too young for the ability to download all of the applications on her own. I think this laptop would be perfect for her as she could have the independence and her own laptop. She loves to play games so the 120 games on this is awesome! We love VTech’s products. We have the Vreader, Vsmile console and smaller one to carry in the car, a lot of other toys for my son are VTech as well! Thank you for your continued great quality on toys!

My 6 year old loves being like “Mom” and would love to have her own laptop. The learning programs would be great since already thinks she’s smarter than her older sisters.
My 5 year old son would love this to practice his phonics that he learns in school. I would love for him to have it because of the increasing need of our little people to know how to navigate laptops and other electronics! Right now, my girls fight over an old shoebox and gift card that they’ve fashioned to look like mommy’s laptop and mouse….I think they’ll get a kick out of having their own computer!! It’ll definitely be more durable!!

I have 3 kids that would definitely benefit from having their “own” computer. I know that they would really like the mouse, specifically, since many other kids computers are just keyboards. I think the math programs would get used the most in our household!.

My son would love to interact with his own laptop. He is a very independent 4 year old who enjoys learning Spanish, “reading” books, and counting. The Vtech laptop would allow him to enjoy all of the learning activities and games on his own without Mommy or Daddy having to assist with the real computer. Vtech offers great products! We already enjoy their reading assit device in our home. We love educational toys and especially when Vtech makes them!
My 4 year old granddaughter would love having her own laptop so she doesn’t have to ask Nana everytime to use mine. She would especially love the fact that it was free because one of her favorite things is to go grocery shopping with me so she can use her coupons she helped me cut out.
My daughter is always thrilled when I bring out my laptop to work, usually a lot more thrilled than I am. She would love to have this laptop and work right alongside mom and hopefully quit typing the letter “S” into mine (first letter of her name). I love that there are already games built in so you don’t have to worry about finding the games when it is time to play with it.
I am posting for my nephew, he is autistic and I have been searching and searching for something great for him for Christmas and I think this would be perfect! Its not to advanced so it wouldn’t over stimulize him but it has many learning features that I think would help him as well as my brother and sister in law.

Wow! My husband was just showing me this last night for my son who is obsessed with buttons. We are really considering it for a christmas present. We’ve had a hard time figuring out what to buy for our 4 1/2 year old son for Christmas. We usually have that problem with our daughter, but this year he’s a little hard to shop for. This would be perfect, because he is always wanting my phone to play games on, and I know he would enjoy having a device all his own that he can play ANY time, without having to ask first. And I would love to NOT have to watch him the whole time for fear of him breaking it!

My daughter, who is 15 months old, by the way, thinks she is an adult when it come to using our computer. She climbs right up on my lap and gingerly (or atleast gingerly to her), presses buttons and talks to the screen. When the page changes because of a button she pushed, she says “oooohhhh”, totally priceless. Would be nice if I had this laptop so I could teach her while she presses buttons……

My husband and I have been trying to decide on an educational Christmas gift for our 3 year old son. We have seen similar portable gaming systems at Best Buy and our little guy loved playing the trials. It was good to read a review from someone with a child the same age who can relate. Anything that would make him feel like his big sister would make it all the more fun, especially as a learning tool.

I would be entering to win for my nephew, Jacob, who will be 3 in December. He was recently diagnosed with ocd so learning and following directions has been a challenge recently. He absolutely loves electronics and has such a brilliant mind and love for reading. We couldn’t afford to purchase something like this for a Christmas present but I have been praying for a great deal on a Vtech laptop or reader for him!
My son is (thankfully!) very curious of educational electronic games. He has memorized the sounds of the letters of the alphabet from one game already, so for Christmas this year I am trying to find more “toys” that would further expand his knowledge and something he could use for a few years!

I would like to think of my family as high tech and savvy with technology. Recently my two oldest boys each received a laptop to do homework, the problem that i have found is that my 6 year old has not had the opportunity to hav his own. Most of the “laptops” for kids are too young for him and require different tapes to purchase and in this time can be costly. I know this laptop would be perfect for him because he would be able to learn from his laptop like his brothers. I see that it would also be convenient for him and we would not have to lock down this and monitor as closely as my two older boys.

As the sole provider of my family, it’s difficult to balance work and family life and to add to it, I have two online classes. When I get home, my daughter is tired of being with Daddy all day, after school so she clings to me like a magnet, which I don’t mind because I don’t get much time with them before they are off to bed. I think she would love the Vtech Brilliant Creations Notebook because she asked for a “kids laptop” for Christmas (she is about to turn 6 by the way) so that she can be “just like mommy”. I was so touched by what she said and am ecstatic that she actually wants to learn. She loves school but gets bored with homework and I think this would be a fun way for her to learn as well as a great way for us to bond, while balancing my daily schedule.

Both my children are very curious when it comes to “mommy’s Laptop”. I work on my laptop all day and my 6-year-old daughter makes her own laptops out of paper, Lego, blocks, boxes, styrofoam. She sits by me and pretends to type. I know she and I would love it if she had her own laptop she could learn to type on (I type, so that’s what she really wants to learn to do) and play on. Then we could use our laptops side by side and she wouldn’t have to interrupt my work every five minutes asking if she could use my computer!

My 2 year old daughter loves to pretend like she’s working like mommy! I recently have been able to come home with my kids and am working from home with my husband. He bought me a new computer and she wants to play with it all the time! I often catch her typing with both hands and wiggling the mouse around. My darling 6 year old grandson has just been diagnosed with a learning disability. The therapist has not pinpointed the exact reason for his deficit but because he is on the reading level of a 2.5 year old, she is certain their is some sort of disconnect with his reading/comprehension. We are still in the testing phases for Autism and should know more soon. I’m sure the Brilliant Creations Notebook would be an excellent tool to encourage and support his love of learning!!!
My daughter will be 4 years old Monday and she loves to try to be like Mommy. Everytime I have my laptop out, she wants to join in! She tries to play games on mine, but the mouse is hard for a 3 year old to figure out since it’s one of those that you just touch lightly and it thinks it knows where you want to go!! I feel so bad for her when she tries to play the games online but can’t figure out the mouse in order to play!

I would like to try it with my 3 year old. He has a 6 year old brother and I think sometimes he feels left out because he cannot use the real computer like his brother can. He also has a syndrome which causes his hands to be much smaller than normal. Using a mouse isn’t going to be easy for him, and I haven’t seen any other “children’s” electronics with the mouse pad as an option. That might be an answer to a prayer for us, and I am sure that is what he would like most. We would love a chance to try it!

My 6-year-old daughter, Caylyn LOVES learning toys. Last year for CHRISTmas we got her the Leapster Explorer. This year she wants a V-tech V-Reader. She is exceptionally smart. My little first-grader loves to learn! She plays on the desktop at home quite a bit, but she’d love being able to tote this around. We don’t have a laptop. (Can’t afford one right now.) But, my little monkey would LOVE having a laptop before Mom even gets one!

I’ve been seriously thinking about getting my 11 month-old a netbook. She LOVES computers, but she’s just too rough with them.

I have grandkids ages 3 and 4. They sometimes use the family laptop to access pre-school online games and don’t share well. The notebook will keep them occupied so older family members can claim the real laptop. The grandkids love to move characters and to make pictures, so I would say art will be a favorite for awhile.

She is a full time mom, employee and college student. The “twins” who are 5 are always trying to use her laptop but she has her school work on it. My 7 year old granddaughter is more advanced is her computer skills so she is able to help and teach the “twinkies” as she calls them. They would love this because they can carry it to the babysitters, as well as use it at home. And I love the fact that there isn’t multiple cartridges to purchase or misplace.

. I have a three year old as well. As a teacher I spend countless hours on my laptop working to create genuine and rigorous activities for my students. It would be great if my daughter could spend this time with me working on readiness skills! We looked into all of the kids “gadgets” this holiday season, especially since she has taken a real liking to technology. She has been learning Spanish at school, but her teacher recently left for new opportunities. I would love for her to be able to continue her work while spend quality time with me. Every moment we have matters!

I don’t have any of my own children yet but I’m a speech-language pathologist and work with many special needs children, including children with Down Syndrome and who are on the Autism Spectrum Disorder. The VTech would be a great addition to my therapy sessions as the children would have fun and learn at the same time!

They get very little time to watch TV each week and don’t often get time on the computer so I would love to have something like this for them to be exposed to technology. I work with them daily on reading and math skills and this would be a great way to hit another learning style for them to practice their reading and math skills. We will be having a very small Christmas this year in our home and it would be great to see enormous smiles on my angel’s faces if this were under the Christmas tree.
My five year old daughter would love and appreciate the notebook because she loves to read, write, and draw. She started reading Dick and Jane books, and she has been reading ever since. I would appreciate it because my wife and i coupon for just about everything and this would definitely help us out during the holidays. We started with Your Baby can Read and have now moved to the computer. Unfortunately my girls are at two different age levels. They are very patient to wait their turn. Both of my daughters (3 and 7) are itching to use the computer. I let my 7 year old already use our but you have to be careful about censoring things. Her school is pretty far behind on what she is able to do and I love how VTech items are ALWAYS so customizable and that you can track their progress. I think my 3 year old could even get into this as well as she is learning some things from her older sister and is itching to learn more!

I have three children. However, I know my youngest would love this laptop She is six. She has had an especially hard time this year due to the fact that her vision had deteriorated. She was having a lot of difficulty reading and we could not understand the situation. She passed the vision screening at her school with flying colors. However, she continued to struggle. I was praying for her and God revealed that she could not see. I took her to the optometrist and his findings were stunning. The optometrist said that she had the worst case of far sightedness that he had seen at her age. She also had a stigmatism.This laptop will help her catch up with her peers.

My granddaughter is 3 and everything she watches and plays with has always been education. She uses her moms laptop daily and can move around it better than most. I think she would have hours of fun with this like moms laptop.
My 5 year old daughter has had a Disney princess laptop that was handed down to us 3 years ago. She loves it! It has helped her through her difficulties in her speech and with her spelling this year when she started Kindergarten. Unfortunately it is starting to die on her. A VTech laptop would be so great for her. Her 2 year old brother would like it too. We are a family with 3 young children and can afford very few expensive toys like this. It would be a blessing this Christmas for all three of my kids for years to come.

My son and daughter are always asking to use our home computer. Sometimes they seem more knowledgeable about it than me. I just can’t step out of the room from fear of them stumbling onto the wrong site. They love to go to educational sites. With a device like this you can trust that they are learning and getting the experience of playing on a laptop. What a great invention!

I have 2 girls (almost 3 year old and an almost 5 year old). The older one loves these kind of toys. She is a beginner reader. She loves to learn and do workboo pages, so I think something like this would be great since she would feel grown up, and yet be having fun while learning! We looked at the new tablet they have available and it looks great, but we can’t afford it right now.
I know a man(he works with us) that has two daughters both under the age of five, both are without a mother in their life…Their Mother abandoned them about a year ago…He struggles with what is the right lessons to teach them and is a gruff type figure…however when it comes to his girls he is a warm gooey mess…. He struggles just keeping them fed and in daycare so a gift of this nature for him and for them would be a true blessing.

We have the Vtech Vsmile…from many moons ago when my son was small. My daughter gets to use it now and enjoys it but has to take a cartridge in and out every time she changes a game. It is not hard for her but would be much more fun and less to carry in the car and on trips to grandmas if she had just a laptop! I’m sure she would get tons of use out of it and then could pass it to her little brother when she is done with it.
