Integrity…
I think Integrity is the most important quality in a leader.
I think a good leader is organized first and second takes the time to know the team strengths. Everyone isn’t wired the same and understanding the differences makes a leader.
Absolutely Integrity!!!
Compassion
Willingness to delegate.
Integrity.
Strong values.
I think the best quality a good leader can possess in the ability to listen. You have to be able to listen to your employees and accept whatever comments/suggestions they have. Take the good with the bad. Step outside the box and really listen to those who work for you and in the end it could be very beneficial.
The most important quality for leadership is having a passion for people, because you want to be a positive influence in people for lives.
Been a fan of Daves for a while now. all of his books are great.
I feel a effective leader leads by example. people perform better if they know the boss has done and will still do the job if ness.
Honesty….just attended Dave’s financial peace university and it was great!!
integrity
My partner and I are starting up a business and we have found that one of the most important qualities in our leadership is being able to be flexible and open to what others have to say. We need to work with others and not have to have everything done on our time or exactly the way we want it with no if’s, ans, or buts.
I agree with many other readers that have commented. The number one most important quality in a leader is integrity. I am a huge Dave Ramsey fan. The book “total money makeover” changed my life. My husband and I did not know how to manage money when we first got married. We accrued 46,000 in consumer debt and struggled to pay our bills. We started the Dave Ramsey program and have been debt free except our home since Feb, 2011. I also started couponing as a result of trying to save money and I’m hooked! I have been extremem couponing or about a year or year and a half. My husabdn and I are geting ready to coordianate our second Financial Peace class at our church!! I would love to win this book as my husband may start his own business in the next couple of years!
Sorry for the typos! My computer keyboard was having a significant lag time as I was typing!!!
Integrity is most important, but communication is a close second!
Communication is the key
CONFIDENCE!
Honesty
organization
Willingness to serve
Integrity.
I think knowing how to follow is important. It will help you lead better.
I think the most important quality in leadership is being willing to “put your weight down” into a project…being fully present & engaged despite the cost of unseen difficulties.
Integrity! Lead by example! Thank you
Integrity!
Integrity without a doubt.
I think one of the most important qualities of a leader is Leading By Example (setting an example). A person who is willing to do what they are asking others to do is likely to be followed. You can’t be a leader if no one is following.
Servant leadership!
Decisiveness…
decision making ability
Most important quality for a leadership is fairness/integrity.
I think one of the most important qualities of a leader is trust and a team player you have to trust the leader to follow them and being a team player as a leader makes the others want to follow
Servant Leadership
vision
Servanthood.
Using wisdom, integrity, and experience to make the right decisions.
Flexibility.
One of the most important qualities in a good leader is the ability to really listen to what others are saying, whether it’s feedback on your decisions, or new ideas that you may not have thought about.
Integrity
Leaders show that there leaders by having patience, good work ethics, knowing there job, not afraid change, willingness and eagerness for others to achieve and become successful…A good leader won’t stand in the way of your success but will be your guide to success. (Intergrity, Compassion)
Honesty
I love Dave Ramsey!!! I think that the #1 characteristic as a leader – we have to have GUMPTION – the characteristic to commit and complete. To commit to lead/serve/encourage those we are leading until they themselves get to their goals and/or become leaders themselves.
I believe the most important quality in leadership is humility. I will always work harder for someone who is willing to do what they ask of me and then some than I will for anyone else.
Integrity!
The quality I think is most important in leadership is honesty.
My husband and I run a small business and I feel like our (2) employees would agree. When business is good they know and when business has been bad they know. There’s no guessing for them. I feel like honesty is the foundation to any relationship, and I truly believe they are honest and give us their all in return. We have a great relationship, both professional and personal, and being honest was the key!
Servanthood-Servant Leadership
Honesty and integrity
Honesty
Integrity
Reliability
A good employer, in my opinion, is a person that can show the employee that “I’ve been there, done that” and no job that benefits the company is unimportant. The majority of people will work harder for their boss if they feel like their boss is not so far above them and untouchable. If a person is not appreciated by their employer they will always be looking for another job. I worked at a job once where I was nothing more than a number. I stayed for 3 months while looking everyday until I found another job.
My husband is a HUGE Dave Ramsey fan. My husband is the nerd and I’m the free spirit…LOL! I think the most important quality for a leader would be wisdom.
A good leader is willing to work hard even when they don’t necessarily feel like it
The most important quality is selflessness. By putting your company and others before yourself, helps make it easy for honesty, giving, and kindness to follow suit.
Perseverance.
Integrity
wisdom
The greatest leadership quality is the ability to listen.
Honesty!
THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY IN RUNNING A BUSINESS IS THE WILLINGNESS, ABILITY, AND PAST EXPERIENCE OF DOING THE JOB YOU EXPECT YOUR EMPLOYEES TO DO SO THAT NO ONE CAN EVER SAY THAT YOU WON’T DO WHAT THOSE WHO WORK FOR YOU DO EVERY DAY.
Integrity! You must conduct business transactions honestly as well as be honest about what you expect from employees and provide feedback as to their performance. We listen to Dave Ramsey on a regular basis and can’t wait to read this book!
The most important quality is to lead as you would want to be lead.
Adaptability
management
The most important leadership quality I have ever seen was exemplified by my husband in Iraq. He is a Lt. Colonal in the Marine Corps. Each and every time I spoke to him on the phone or over the computer, I would tell him that I would pray for him. He would always respond with, “Pray for my Marines first, pray for my Marines. Pray that they all come home safely.” It was apparent to me that the Marines under his command were more important to him than his own safety.
So in a nutshell, I would say that “caring for others before yourself” is the most important quality in a leader.
My husband is also a big Dave Ramsey fan who facilitates Financial Peace University at our church.
integrity
I love Dave Ramsey! Doing the plan now! Understanding is the most important skill in leadership!
Our church has use Ramsey books before! This would be great!
To be a great leader is to believe in those you lead, and helping them to believe in themselves.
I believe one of the strengths of a great leader is being able to understand the needs of his employees. This is crucial. He has to understand what motivates an employee and needs to be open to change and still meet goals. There’s more than one way to accomplish a task or goal, and a leader understands that. If the end results are the same, allow the employee to take ownership in the task and do it his/her way.
I think the most important leadership quality is to be willing to serve those you lead.
The best leader has to be willing to follow the person who demonstrated the greatest example of leadership, Jesus Christ. In His Word, He gives us all we need to know to be a great leader. Jesus demonstrated through His life complete selflessness, perserverance, humility and love…all characteristics of a great leader. I believe one of the reasons Dave Ramsey has been so successful is because he has used Gods Word as a foundation for his life and his business. God has certainly blessed him for it!
I think the most important quality needed for leadership is the ability to relate to and understand people (especially people who think differently than you do).
To be a great leader one must lead by example. A leader who does things that he teaches his subordinates not to do is hypocritical and will not be well respected.
being a example
Honesty & patience
Willing to listen.
Dignity!
I feel that the quality of communication is the most important thing a great leader should have.
Honesty and Respect for your fellow co-workers
I think the best quality in a leader is someone who is creative and a real people person.
Listening to all sides of the table.
I think the most important quality is wisdom or honor, both are core to being a great leader!
A good leader is bother humble and wise.
One of the best qualities of a leader is to accept criticism. If you do not listen to outside sources to help better you as a leader you will never be able to improve yourself.
Dave Ramsey rocks! Leadership requires being able to see the issues from all sides.
I believe that integrity is the most important waulity in leadership because it encompasses so many aspects. For instance, if you don’t know the answer to something and you have integrity, you will find it. I would LOVE a copy of the book. Thanks
synergy
Being an example first.
When I think of a leader – I think of the word Integrity. Then I think of my husband who is such a wonderful leader of our household. He is such a wonderful man of integrity.
A great leader has the ability to communicate well and focus on a plan of action and ability to direct others without failure.
Respect for your employees.
Honesty is the most important quality of a leader!
Integrity, and the place I desire to work would be Christ centered
The ability to listen to your employees/employers.
Leading by example!
I also think one must lead by example to be a good leader. An outgoing personality doesn’t hurt either.
teamwork and listening skills
My husband, he does a great job with this. We took the 13 week program at our church. He took on the wisdom, and I’m the free spirit kind of gal. Very thankful for the program
Responsibility for all of your resources. Both human and non.
Humbleness is the most important!
Humility.
Honesty is the best leadership quality. If a leader is not honest his/her team will not move up and neither will the business the leader is supervising!
A cool head in tense situations!!
The willingness to sacrifice and put other people above yourself!
I beleive a great leader must lead by example. A good leader must strive to be the person he/she wants to lead.
open communication 24/7!!!!!! Don’t ever assume
Humility,
The quality that is MOST important for any leadership role is to know when you are right or when you are wrong and when you can admit it and fix the mistakes you made without shame!
Team Player
Leaders need to have a servant’s heart that seeks to always do good for others. A servant’s heart is humble, anticipates needs, and does good for others.
Integrity!
The quality most important for leadership is humility.
When I think of great leaders I think of someone who is trustworthy.
backs their employees/team members up
INTEGRITY
I think the most important quality of a leader is caring! Caring about the business they are running and the employee’s that work there!
I think one of the best leadership qualities is dedication. You must be dedicated to your purpose, main goal and all that tht entails. There is nothing worse than a leader throwing one of their employees under the bus for something. I love to see them stand up and remain dedicated to their workers that work hard for them!
I think that the most important quality in a leader is confidence and to have a plan – that you can deviate from if you need to!
The most important aspect for leadership is the ability to empathize and show compassion for those that are under you leadership, yet to be able to make decisions and lead in a direction that is for the best interest of all concerned.
Integrity
I think for leadership it is really important to know the people you are working with – their strengths, weaknesses, passion etc. and work to engage their passion and not their areas of weakness!
Humility is the most important aspect of leadership. Having an accurate perception of your abilities and lack of, and realizing that the more you learn, the more you need to learn.
I think trust is the biggest part of being a leader, a person must be trustworthy to have people look up to him / her.
the ability to consider options (listen to others)
Confidence…if you have no confidence, you can never lead!
The most important aspect a leader can have is to be Christ controlled.
Humble with a servant type attitude!
To Listen.
Communication!
I think that guidance is the most important quality for leader. You are an employee because you need direction and guidance and someone to learn from so one day you can move up the ladder.
Tenacity!! If you easily give up or take no for an answers, you will never succeed!
There are more nay-sayers than cheerleaders.
Leadership is a huge step and can be big shoes to fill. If it’s not your calling, you’ll struggle – especially with a large group of folks.
To me, one of the most important aspects of leadership is knowing your abilities, strengths and weaknesses.
Making it about them and listening to what they want. I know this is 2 but I couldn’t settle on just one.
The most important facet to leadership is leading by example. I don’t expect anyone in our business, to do anything that I would not do myself. As a struggling small business owner, I’d really be interested in reading this book. I think Dave Ramsey is an amazing person for taking what life threw at him and turning it around to help so many people!
I think the greatest quality for leadership is constantly being willing to learn. Everyone can learn something new everyday and as long as you are willing to expand your mind and learn you can be a successful leader
don’t forget where you came from!
Motivation.
Integrity is key.
Definitely integrity is of utmost importance. It begins at the top and travels down through the ranks.
Integrity – your team will follow the standard you set
Be willing to do anything you ask your employee to do. Not that you have to or need to but because you can or would.
I think one of the most important quality for leadership is reliability.
Honesty & humility. You maybe someone’s boss but that doesn’t mean that you’re better than them!
The ability to communicate with others! Talking and listening!
For quality leadership I think you need people skills. to be able to relate to and communicate at all levels with people.
A good leader must have the “heart of a teacher”, as Dave might say! He’s right of course!
A leader needs to be trustworthy, fair, consistent, compassionate and expect 110% from themselves as well as their team.
Humility and Integrity
I think integrity is the most important quality for a leader. People will follow someone who had integrity because they know they can depend on that person if there is an issue or problem.A person with integrity says what they mean and sticks by their word.
Do it first that what you ask your team to do!
The most important quality in leadership is the ability to have open communication with the peopel at all levels of the office.
I was just reading an article about a family following his books in All You and thought I need to check into that only to log on to facebook to find you are doing a giveaway! Having been a supervisor in the past the one thing that earned the most respect for me is I didn’t ask my employees to do anything that I wouldn’t get in the trenches and do with them. I showed this to my staff over and over again and I gained great respect with them which in turn meant I always had staff willing to go the extra mile when needed. It was a great feeling to be a supervisor knowing that I always had a team that had my back no matter what I needed!
Listening= You learn a lot about the people who work for you and your customers by listening.
Fairness (is that a word?)!
The ability to listen attentively to everyone — regardless of position or stature — then be able to make a decision and ACT on it.
The most important quality for a leader is to be a servant. The greatest example I experienced was the principal of my children’s elementary school. She worked tirelessly to facilitate the success of everyone employed at the school from the janitor to the vice principal. She praised her volunteers and constantly gave recognition to those who succeeded. She was loved and admired and the school excelled academically.
I believe the most important leadership qualities are integrity and humor!
Leaders need to be able to listen to those that they manage.
I think that leading as a christian, allowing God to be in your decision making process is what will make you successful !
I have five…these are the most important to me:HonestForward-LookingCompetentInspiringIntelligentI think its important to exhibit, model and display these traits. Simply possessing each trait is not enough; you have to display it in a way that people notice. People want to see that you actively demonstrate these leadership qualities and will not just assume that you have them.
sorrymy space key sticksonme
Integrity and Dedication are the most important qualities of leadership. One must lead by example in order to gain the respect of your followers.
Honesty and transparency.
I think the most important quality for leadership is to be people oriented. Respect your employees. Utilize the three C’s to earn their loyalty:
Be Considerate of them
Be Concerned about them
Be Consistent with them
Honesty
My husband have led FPU classes at our church since 2001. In interviewing successful business leaders, Dave Ramsey says the one thing they have in common is integrity.
A leader should be confident!
I think the most important quality is being a servant. My husband is the best model for this in our family. He devours books like these, and I would love to win this for him!!
Humility is the most important quality for a good leader. One who is humble in attitude and spirit is one who is easier to follow.
Leaders need to know when to lead and when to listen
Being willing to admit when you are wrong and learning from that experince.
Put God first in all things!
Put God first in all things!
I think humility is one of aspects that makes a great leader. Pride comes before a fall ;-)
I think humility is one of aspects that makes a great leader. Pride comes before a fall ;-)
Communication- being able to tell others what you want and how you want things done.
Taking the time to understand the other person’s point of view and circumstances.
Leading according to the Word of God.
The most important qualities for leadership is Godliness and compassion. To be a good leader you must be a good disciple.
Integrity
Leaders should be intelligent and confident! (Knowing how to properly manage money doesn’t hurt either!)
communication
A great quality for leadership is the ability to motivate across the wide variety of “styles” that people have. Not everyone listens, learns or works the same way. A great leader can define and work with each person to be able to pull the best out of them to create a cohesive, functional team.
Commitment
Having the ability to put others needs before your own. Whether you are a Mom, coach, teacher, or a manager, you always look out for everyone else, even when it means sacrificing your time and energy to do so.
Integrity!
Respect in the most important quality a leader can have. Without a level of respect between leaders and their followers, nothing will get accomplished. Mutual respect goes very far, whether it at work, home, or between friends.
Delegation. :-)
The most important quality for leadership is unwavering morals. Someone who does the right thing even when it isn’t easy. My husband recently did this and it negatively impacted his business and bottom line, but it was the moral and ethical thing to do.
A quality I have found to be the most valuable in the leaders I admire is humility. They have confidence in what they are doing but don’t let it lead to hubris.
One part of good leadership is about recognizing and playing to people’s strengths as often as the situation permits.
Honesty!
I think humility is one quality of a good leader!
Respect is the most important thing, It leads to everything else.
Integrity. Proverbs 22:1.
Communication is a key important quality in leadership.
Godliness.
I think the most important quality for a leader is integrity. The leader will hold to their morals and do what is right, not matter how hard the situation gets.
Taking the time to understand the other person’s point of view and circumstances.
Having good character is the most important.
The most important quality for leadership is compassion.
I think the most important quallity for a good leader is the ablity to listen.
Confidence in yourself
Honesty
Listen ! Listen ! Listen !
I think people/social skills is the most important part of being a business leader. You have to learn to work with all kinds of people whether they are employee, clients, or other businesses. It’s impossible to have a successful business with out good relationships….
Getting others to support you
A good leader must be honest and trust worthy!
I think a great quality is your integrity!
Strong set of morals values, trustworthy, and an amazing humble confidence
listening skills
I believe it takes integrety to be a good leader!!
I think self discipline is the most important quality for leadership. It is definatelly a heart matter that is imposible to master without Gods help.
I feel in leadership you have to be in control and put business first. I found out the hard way , when I became to involved in the “problems” of my employees.. You have to put business first when in business and personal friendships aside during the day..I am now struggling to make my business more successful .. I follow Dave’s advice on many aspects and have all his books and would especially love this one to help me in my business …..Thanks ….
True leaders lead by serving others
I think a leader should be able to show by example.
A good and fair listener
I think honesty is the one of the most important qualities in leadership.
The leader needs to be trustworthy.
I would have to say honesty and humility.
The most important quality is integrity! This means the leader is moral and ethical in their performance of their duties and also in the mentoring and development of their subordinates. Employees are empowered by a leader with integrity because they do not have fear! They can voice their ideas, opinions, suggestions, etc.. as they are encouraged to do so! Integrity means that the employee ( it can be a leader or subordinate) has a higher inate code of the performance of their duties.
integrity!
Being a servant leader is most important in my opinion. As you serve others, you are giving them value and leading by example.
I think integrity is the most essential quality for a leader.
My dad always says, if you don’t have your integrity, you
Have nothing. You can be a great leader in every other aspect and get tons of people to follow you, but if you don’t have integrity, everything will eventually crumble.
Not being afraid to empower others. Empowering others provides them with the tools they need to feel successful and respected. People will follow someone who empowers them because that leader has demonstrated his belief in them.
A good leader should listen empathize and achieve goals for the greater good
Integrity….And go the second mile for your customers
The most important quality for leadership is that you have to treat others with respect! You have you give respect to gain respect. Set an example for your employees! Be what you want your employees to be, do what you expect them to do…if 7am is start time…the boss should be there, too!
I believe leading with a servant attitude is the most important quality in a leader and always treat your employees and customers with kindness and respect.
Honesty and integrity go hand and hand as the most important qualities for leadership. People need to know the truth always whether it is good or bad.
Loyalty is the most important aspect to leadership. Loyalty to your product/service, your bosses above you, your employees under you.
A good leader must be honest!!
I think one of the most important parts of being a leader is to be a listener also. Many good ideas come from those who are in the “trenches”. My former supervisor used to say “you can’t be promoted if you can’t be replaced”. I learned to prepare my successor step by step long before I ever had a place to go.
the key to being a great LEADER is being a GREAT FOLLOWER of JESUS! :)
It is my paersonal opinion that in order to be an effective leader, you must first be a follower of Christ. True wisdom and guidance can only come from above.
Honesty!
To be a person of knowledge, honest, trustworthy, kind and caring.
To be a good leader to must be willing to do whatever you ask others to do! You lead by example!!! Also Honesty is super important!!!
striving4heaven@aim.com
The most important leadership quality is trust. People you lead must trust that you have their best interest at heart and that you care. Your employees will perform as you lead them with tender loving care while helping them grow and acheive their dreams and goals.
I believe one of the most important qualities for a leader to have is willingness. I know, that’s not a technical term. What I mean is, a leader that is not willing to learn new, better, or proven methods is stuck in the a rut. To get different results we must try different processes. A leader should be willing to learn from God, his employees, other leaders, industry experts, etc. He must be willing to put forth effort to make his business work. He must be willing to listen to others, to admit his faults and mistakes, to take risks. A leader has to be more willing to do things than the average person because they have more to lose but also more to gain.
Honesty, integrity and self discipline as well as leading by example. Never ask your employees to complete a task you aren’t willing to do yourself.
I believe you must be a leader worth following. If you are looking back and nobody is following…there might be a reason for that!
Integrity and empowerment
Having someone in leadership who is willing to listen and treat you like a human.
I would love to obtain any financial advise Mr.Ramsey has to offer in his new book. My husband is entertaining the idea of starting a new business. The economy gives us reasons for concern. Maybe, just maybe, this book could be the answer to our prayers.

Fostering relationships
To be Christlike. If you are Christlike and follow in his steps then you have all the qualities you need!!!
The ability to lead by example!!
I believe honesty and integrity and living by example are the qualities most important for leadership.
empathy…you have to have the ability to connect with everyone, you cant lead if you cant feel…connecting on all levels. why they hate why they love why they are scared why their heart flutters. you connect with people on all levels you can lead
Integrity is key.
Treating people like you want to be treated
Honesty, integrity and all other Christ like qualities are most important for leadership…
Integrity, Trust
Integrity is the most important. Everything else is great, but if you don’t have integrity, all of that other stuff won’t hold too much.
In order to lead you must first set an example!
Integrity is the most important quality for effective leadership. You can have someone who is driven and hard-working, but without integrity it is worthless. A company built on honest dedication is one that people want to be a part of and support.
I believe that you need integrity to be an effective leader. Meaning that you need to keep thedo and say what you want done and said…no double standards, please!
Taking criticism and making good out of it.
The most important quality is to remember that you were once in their shoes and that one day you may be again.
I think a leader needs to a have vision with passion & humility! (Can’t just list one quality…lol)
Integrity
EXPERIENCE! lol okay, so that’s not a quality… the ability to focus.
Integrity is a key quality for any leader to have
It is important for effective leadership to be genuine. Genuiness from a leader will help with the development of various skilled team members. Subordinate workers are more apt to respond to leadership that is genuine rather than one that provides lip service.
Honesty & Compassion to lead I think that those are the most important.
Great COMMUNICATION skills!!
I think confidence is most important. If you’re confident in what you do, others will pick up on that and want to follow.
Magnanimity! This means giving credit where credit is due. A magnanimous leader will spread credit for success throughout the company. A good leader will accept personal responsibility for failures. This kind of leadership helps employees feel good about themselves and draws the team closer. To spread the fame and take the blame is a hallmark of effective leadership.
I think integrity is the most important quality. Without it, you can’t lead effectively.
Integrity & Humility
Communication. No matter how much you may know or be able to do, if you cannot communicate it to others, it’s worthless.
I think the most important quality in leadership is humility. A proud leader is hard to follow.
Communication. If you have a leader that has integrity, a good personality and the knowledge to lead, it means nothing without the ability to communicate properly!
Without self confidence, leadership is not possible. Parents and teachers are particularly critical in building a young person’s self esteem.
Having good comminucation skills is definitely the most important thing to being a good leader!
Integrity is the most important quality of leadership.
One of the most important leadership qualities is learning to exercise one’s authority and influence with integrity.
Great leaders must have good communication skills and compassion and empathy for those they lead. They must be able to effectively convey their vision and directives while also realizing the needs of those they lead.
Being able to admit when you messed up and listening to the advice of others.
A good leader is someone who can do a good job as well as relate to their employees. You have to be a morale booster, a good role model, and have patience when teaching.
Relationships are key with leadership!
Sincerity, Truth, Trust & Honesty…makes a great leader
Integrity and communication are two big keys to leadership :)
Listening and creating an environment that is open to shared ideas.
Organized, compassionate, strong and confident!
The best quality of a leader is someone who puts others ahead of him or herself
the most imporatnt leadership quality is to lead by example. The leader does his/her work right and honest and by being a great leader and leading by example of how u want ur employees to work u will in return have a successful business. i am staring a new business on september 27th. im excited for a new opportunity. this book would be helpful to me for that reason. thanks.
A good leader should be willingly to do what they ask others to do.
Integrity. Honesty covers a multitude of personality flaws and lack of communication skills.
I’m going through the class now @ my church on Tuesday nights.Very interesting/need to learn a lot more.
A strong leader is a servant leader
As a business owner of a local community business…My role of leadership is to be an honest individual who can work on the same level with my employees so that they can feel comfortable talking to me and relaying information that helps me run the business and in return makes a great environment for my employees wanting to show up for work everyday!
Integrity; it is important that others have a leader they can easily respect, because of their character.
The Golden Rule…no doubt!
Teamwork and respect
A good leader is someone who is able and willing to answer questions. Someone with lots of patients and understanding. And someone who looks to fulfill the goal at hand while trying to take everyone’s goals as important as their own.
The quality that I think stands out most in any leader is a humble spirit!
Leadership is important because with out it plans can not come together. Good leadership will make or break the best plans and ideas.
Firm believer that what Dave says will work. Can’t wait to read this book
I think there are so many important qualities a leadership should have, Knowledge of what they are doing, be able to except other peoples ideas and be able to admit when they are wrong, and I also think all leaders need to understand no one is perfect not even them except for Jesus of course :) when I say this a lot of leaders think they are better and treats people like dirt and that is really wrong.
Humble but confident, that balance is sometimes difficult to find, but very important. And must have integrity to stick to what they believe regardless of the opinions of others.
I would have to say perserverance because it is not always easy being a leader but you have to have the strength to continue on.
The quality most important for leadership, is to understand the business you are leading……all the ins and outs. Know how to perform the skills you are asking of others.
While a good leader must posses many skills, a top characteristic or quality is communication. Without good communication skills, a leader cannot convey his vision or ideas in a manner that inspires others to follow him or her.
Honesty is the most important quality. If you are honest with God, yourself, your employees and your customers the road to success is a lot easier. That’s not always easy to do but it is the most important.
A good leader is a good listener. He/she listens to many points of view before making a decision.
flexibility to roll with the changes and don’t sweat the small stuff
Integrity is in my opinion the most important quality for leadership.
Creativity is the most important leadership quality, then integrity and global thinking. Creative leaders are more prepared to break with the status quo of industry, enterprise and revenue models, and they are more likely to rate innovation as a “crucial capability.”
You have to be a hard worker. Be willing to do even the smallest task or the nastiest job that no one else wants to do. You can’t ask someone else to do something you wouldn’t do yourself. Persevere no matter what comes your way!
Integrity…without it, respect is not earned. Without respect, leadership is compromised.
humility. Some of the best leaders are the ones who don’t think they will be good at… if you think you are an awesome leader – you probably stink.
A great leader is someone who is grounded by their faith, knowing that they are not doing things alone.
Integrity is most important!! Can’t wait to read his newest book. I LOVE Dave Ramsey!!!
I think it’s understanding and appreciating the value of your employees and your customers.
I believe a very important part of being a great leader is to listen to those you are leading. You find out valuable information from different perspectives when you listen.
Leadership is a skill that many designated as “leaders” do not have…leaders need to be honest, forthright, and dedicated to improving their organization and the people involved with it.
I think one of the most important qualities would be passion, but even with that I think it takes a little bit of everything. Have passion for that business and the business model, be motivated to achieve attainable goals, and yes of course with integrity, but all this comes with patience and practice… Self control; to have an ability to perfect one’s own position but also have the knowledge from all aspects of the business, and providing the reproducable information to build a strong team.
Integrityis number one!
I think honesty is the most important quality. If the leadership can’t be honest then why would any one under them think they should be honest. Lead by setting a good example.
Humbleness and a servant heart!
I think maintaining and promoting a workplace where employees are encouraged and excited to make a contribution knowing that their efforts are recognized and may be awarded by the company.
I think integrity is the most important- if you don’t have integrity, who will want to follow your lead?
Lead others and be an example for those to look up to.
Earn and maintain respect.
Act based on your moral and ethical beliefs
Direct those you are leading on a path that is honorable.
Empower others to achieve their personal goals.
Remain honest and trustworthy.
Serve and coaching others by teaching and guiding.
Have a positive attitude and encourage others.
Inspire others to possess characteristics on leadership.
Possess a vision that is clear and comprehensive.
I belive that to be a leader you must belive in yourself and you should stand up for what you belive in as well as those who can not stand up for themselves you must be honest you must have values and be dependable and willing to work h, being a leader means setting a good example for others to follow
Integrity because all the other qualities come out of that.
Communication!
I believe understanding is the most important quality in leadership.
To be a great leader you must be able to communicate with others in order to accomplish a common goal.
I think a good leader has a kind heart. Those who work for you and with you need to know that you are a caring person and once they know that your team will work hard to furthur move the business along.
Keeping an open mind is one of the biggest qualities.
Honesty. You have to be honest with yourself and those you are leading.
The Golden Rule…treat others the way you would like to be treated.
Listening is key. You need to listen to your customers and employees if you want your business to be successful.
I think that good leader needs to know what they believe, and why they believe it. Whether those things are good are bad is ill-relevant. You can be a terrible person, but a great “leader”.
A good leader should be trustworthy and dependable .
You have to first lead by example and when leading you must follow the “Golden Rule”.
I think that you have to feel fear but have the courage to keep pushing forward.
If I have to pick just on quality that makes a good leader I would have to choose Integrity. However, there is a lot that goes into a good leader. Among the other qualities I would say that you also have to be willing to have patience and willingness to invest in others. Everyone wants to succeed even the person that empties your garbage can at work. To be a good leader you have to see the potential in others and be willing to help them develop into leaders.
Communication is key when you take input from subordinates.
Real leaders are not afraid to make people uncomfortable when necessary. This includes their followers.
Honest communication!
Willingness to do EVERY job within the business. No one likes to feel as if the person running the show is too good for the jobs his company’s success is dependent upon.
The most important quality is decisiveness
I think a good leader is someone who has enthusiasm about doing the things they love. It is infectious!
The most important quality in leadership is to choose truth over trying to please everybody
Listening .. People need to be present and truly listen as a leader
A true leader has a vision.
“Where there is no vision, the people perish…The Bible
A good leader is someone who seeks to do God’s will and is actually willing to do it. When you observe a person who posesses these qualities, you WANT to emulate them!
I think a strong personality is required to be a leader. You can’t lead others if you keep questioning your own desisiveness
i believe leading by example is the best way to lead
The most important quality of a leader is humility!
Understanding–of the people you’re leading and of the goal you’re leading them towards.
In the “Purpose Driven Life” (p.276), Rick Warren states vulnerability to be an endearing quality. I believe that this is an important quality in a leader. Issues can only be corrected when admitting weaknesses and shortcomings. Being able to humble yourself will not only attract more business, but it will also prevent your business from becoming a financial disaster since you will be more realistic in your plans.
The most important quality of leadership is servitude. The most important leader in my life, Jesus Christ, didn’t come to this world as a mighty king or a conqueror. He arrived as a servant-leader. That is the most important quality in a leader.
commitment – to the goals, the people under you, etc.
Charisma is that characteristic that allows most leaders to gain their position. Then, listening – to know where people want to be lead.
Amy
A good leader is a servant leader. Willing to put themself out there for those they are leading and able to make decisions without faltering.
A good leader provides direction and perspective for his/her staff, joins them to get over hurdles, and encourages them in good times and bad. In order to do this, the leader must care for his/her people and respect the job they do.
Integrity. That will help a leader last for a long time.
I think the most important quality for leadership is integrity.
commitment.
A good leader models Christ…
Leadership is taking charge and doing the things that are tough to do with no regrets. It is being able to say no when the easy way would be to say yes and doing the right thing even when no one is looking.

Compassion for others
would love a copy…he has so much good wisdom & advice to share on finances
As someone who’s learned about leadership by applying the Army values, intergrity and humility are two character traits I personally hold in high regard. But to narrow it to one choice of what I think is most important to leadership… that would have to be mentorship. Being a strong leader is worthless to an organization, if you don’t help build/cultivate those you lead. Mentorship is a key component to a successful organization… passing along your knowledge and experiences benefit the generations to follow in your footsteps.
I like a leader who does what they say, says what they do, and keep their word when they give it.
Humility, be humble at heart if you have humility in your heart you will be a true leader.
Very well said
Loyalty,Honesty,Integrity and Trust

I think you have to genuinely care about those you’re leading – the people have to be more important than your status/power as a leader.

I think you have to be compassionate in order to be a good leader.
The ability to make quick, smart decisions. The knowledge that you are a leader. I think one of the most important abilities is to be able to listen, and to understand the people you being led. People need to feel that they are an important part of any job and they are because without them where would you be as a leader? You also have to stand firm when you know something is right. The best people that have led me have been the most understanding people.
I think a leader has to be trustworthy. If you have proven yourself as such, people will follow because you have earned their trust. Even if the plan doesn’t workout, they will believe you did your best and had their best interest at heart.
Great communication skills from a beginner to an old pro!
PRUDENCE – doing the right thing, at the right time for the right reasons.
So many good answers. It’s hard to pick just one. The first thing that popped into my mind was helping everyone feel like it’s a win-win. So being able to be fair and diplomatic at the same time.
Be a good example and know that no task is ever beneath you.
patience
Setting the example.
Integrity-Doing what is morally and ethically right is the most important thing. Without integrity, what kind of leader could anyone be?
Being able to listen sincerely
Morning prayer in the workplace.
servanthood – a willingness to do what no one else wants to do
Creating work environments where employees are treated as co-owners rather than hourly workers.
I think a leader needs to lead by example. Don’t ask others to do what you are not willing to do yourself.
I think the most important quality for leadership is humility. While you may be the “boss,” it’s always important to still be willing to learn from others.
Discipline is an important quality in a leader. If you are disciplined, then you are teachable and will know that a leader must learn to follow in order to lead.

A great leader should be a developer of other leaders.
A good leader teaches others to lead
Rebecca
A good leader must have integrity!
A good leader must be geuine!
“Know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em” In other words knowing when its time to lead and knowing when its time to let go and let your team members try it on their own!
Being a great leader involves so many qualities but I would have to say great communication would have to be #1. If you cannot communicate your ideas, thoughts you will never be able to lead anyone nor expect anyone to be able to follow through on issues
A good quality is leadership a a person who is not only a leader but someone who can do what they are asking those they lead to do and is capable of managing it so when they leave those they were leaders to are able to take over and continue doing great things in whatever area it is.
You must remember that your people are your strongest assets.
I think leading by example is so important.
I think leaders need to remember they are dealing with human beings not machines.
humility
If you truly believe in your message, leadership will come naturally!
A leader is someone who is not in the spotlight, but the one who is leading the applause.
A leader is someone who is not in the spotlight, but the one who is leading the applause.
Leaders today need to listen to the people around them, not just tell them “Its my way or the highway”. When a leader listens and even helps the people the work with with some of their problems, loyalty and hard work are often given back.
I think a good quality in a leader is being able to effectively communicate the company’s mission statement and gain buy-in from all the stakeholders. :)
A good leader must have integrity. Having integrity can earn the trust and loyalty of your followers. Plus it’s just a good quality to have. :)

To be a great leader you must first be a great servant.
I think one of the most important qualities is humility (like not thinking you’re the only person that knows anything).
I believe that integrity is the most important virtue for leadership because it is essential. If one has integrity then he will own up to his decisions and do what is right rather than what is convenient at the time.
A great leader leads by example. His actions match his words.

Great leaders inspire others with both their heart and mind
Collaboration/teamwork. The leader needs to be the one to pull the team together to work towards a common goal, but he/she must realize that all opinions count and should be valued, not just those of the leader.
Great Leaders should be ones who serve those they lead.
Integrity –everything else is secondary. Dave is AWESOME!
The most important quality a leader should have is confidence! They have to appear like they know exactly what they are doing; without being arrogant.
My father was a great leader and one of his most important qualities was integrity. He lead by example.
A leader needs to have the heart of a teacher along with integrity. This is the foundation of all other skills.
The most important leadership quality in my opinion is humility.
My husband and I are working through the steps taught in Total Money Makeover. As foster parents and parents to 3 biological children we are trying to teach our children to follow this practice. Dave Ramsey is an amazing man.
Integrity- it pretty much covers honesty, being a good boss, etc.
Communication is key.
Intergrity and humility.
As a leader, we need to set an example. Always be willing to do what no one else will do.

Integrity and motviation
A servant’s heart : )

Leaders must have a creativity to think outside the box to spark new ideas and problem solve. They must have excitement and believe in themselves to share and lead others to new levels.
My husband desires to start his own business one day. Dave Ramsey is real! He shows the ups and downs to any business. The experience that Daves shares will help us prepare for our future. We live our lives according to many of the financial principles he taught in Total Money Makeover, so why not learn more with a business too and use that in our personal lives and professional lives? How exciting!
You must be a servant leader with willingness to do the right thing always…and you should build up others by building on their strengths and empowering them with the knowledge that they are a very important part of your team
A good leader must first Listen to those he would Lead.
A good leader gets to know her employees and values each one. Changes may take place but a good leader doesn’t come in like a bulldozer causing employees to look else where. A good leader can manage without being over bearing and controlling because she knows employees will be more productive when they feel trusted.
A good leader, is one that is part of the team, not just ‘boss’ telling everyone what to do. A good leader earns the respect of the team which makes the team ‘want’ to contribute. A good leader gets dirty when the time is right. A good leader respects the bounderies between home and work.
Honesty!!!!
The most important thing is to put God First! If we are to be imitators of Christ, who IS the greatest leader of all, then we need to walk in all of who Christ is and just BE who He is!!!
I think one of the hardest parts of leadership is dealing with your employees. You have all types of different personalities to deal with; some that are hard workers, some that are complainers and just like to keep drama stirred up and some that just don’t do their job or don’t come to work half of the time. A good leader would be someone that would put their foot down and not put up with the employees that made it stressful on the employees that did perform their job at 100%.
The heart of leadership is empowering followers to excel. You have to view a leadership role through the lens of service to your employees by both inspiring them and building them up!
It’s important to be able let others take the lead when necessary.
I LOVE Dave! Starting FPU again tomorrow, for my second time. Thinking about buying everyone I know his book for Christmas!
Humility!
A good leader is able to have a firm hand while giving the employees incentives to reach for their own excellence.
Integrity.
Leadership is having the ability and knowledge to know when and how to step up. But it’s also the humbleness and wisdom to know when to back off and let others take charge. I think the best leaders are those who do not first intend to lead. It’s great responsibility but the rewards are great too.
I think that one of the most important qualities for leadership is the ability to look at oneself and see changes that need to be made within so that one can treat others as they want to be treated.
One of the most important qualities in leadership is the ability to be a servant leader. When you realize that by making the people who you lead successful, you are successful, then you have the ability to have a sustainable company like Ramsey.
This is awesome. My husband and I are currently using Dave’s get out o debt plan…and it is working. It has always been a goal of mine to start my own business, so this book would be another great addition to my Dave Ramsey library.
I think one of the best qualities that a leader can have it to be a positive role model to those around him/her, someone who always does what is right.
A person who demonstrates strong character will go far as a business leader. Strong character is needed in all the areas of leadership.
you need to have a vision for the future.

I believe Integrity and Character is the most important leadership qualities a person can have in both life and business to be successful. You can not be afraid to work, be an example.
Honesty and integrety
Veracity- meaning the power of conveying or perceiving the truth
Most important to be a leader: You HAVE to know how to listen.
believe that Godly wisdom is the most important quality of a leader.
Making mistakes and learning from them.
Effective and meaningful leadership is about about being authentic, caring, and willing… and “tuning in” to your staff to help them excel in their unique abilities!!
Integrity, if you have no integrity you have no credibility, therefore no respect by anyone.
Compassion – You have to have compassion for people.
Understanding and following the example of the greatest leader of all–Jesus Christ.
Striving to be like Christ and to influence others in a way that Christ is glorified!
Consistent integrity
Our children are learning the 7 Habits in school, and this is a life lesson in leadership!
Strong Christ like character and Humbleness
Leadership requires integrity above all else. Clear communications and direction really help too.
Leading with fairness- treating all people with the same respect
Intelligent compassion
Following the leadership of the Holy Spirit
To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.
Integrity and compassion
Honesty
Would love to win a copy of D. Ramsey’s new book. The most important leadership quality is listening to understand.
It is difficult to choose one most important quality but I would have to say WISDOM. The only way to gain wisdom is to read books written by great leaders like Dave.
A good leader GUIDES. The leader has the knowledge and drive but must be able to guide his followers. Guiding them through encouragement, respect, coaching, and not asking a follower to do anything that the leader won’t do. A good leader is a mentor so that the followers can learn and grow into leaders themselves!
DELEGATE DELEGATE DELEGATE!!!!!
Leading by example, always do the right thing and treat others the way you want to be treated.
FAITH!
Honesty.
I think the most important aspect of Leading is that you model servanthood. This models after Christ and promotes a strength that is far beyond our understanding. He is the example!
To lead one must know how to serve. You can lead or guide others until you know how to serve other.
All the the qualities listed are good, but I also think one important quality for a leader, especially in a start up business, would be to be able to recognize the resources you have that are free, already in-house so to speak. Recognize thrift and don’t overextend or pay for items or information that are can be obtained for free. Your employees would model this attitude and save your company money.
I FELL THAT THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY FOR LEADERSHIP IS HAVING A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST. IF YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE THE WAY JESUS WANTS YOU TO, YOU CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT TO AND BE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO.
Leadership consist of being able to lead by example meaning that people will follow your actions. You must show Faith in God, tithing at your worship center, have a positive attitude because people then to follow your actions.
leading by example…serving first. willing to be last in order to be first.
Treat your employees as you would your own family members and have empathy.
Leadership is treating others as you believe Jesus Christ would treat them. When others see how you treat those you come into contact with, they will follow your lead. In the workplace, treating others with love is contagious and sets the mood for the whole office. I am a veterinarian and I have found when I encounter an extremely difficult person, I am even nicer to them and they usually change their attitude before the end of the visit.
Knowing the people in the group and how to lead them (and what the true goal of the project is).
Integrity! Definitely key.
honesty and integrity. just left a a good job because my leader had neither of these and I didn’t feel like I could keep my integrity if I continued to follow her lead
About a year ago I have taken a master’s level leadership class at the Luther Rice University. The first assignment that was given to us was to read a book called “Follower First”. As I have read through the book, the author pointed out that we as leaders are supposed to have attributes of Christ. And as we go through the New Testament we find Christ being a follower. By being a follower first, leader can relate to those who are following. So I would say that for me, to be a great leader, one has to be a follower first.
Being able to stand up to your employees, not having a fear of them and not being afraid to require more of them. I guess in short, having a backbone.
self confidence and never give up
humility is imperative.
My husband and I live the “Dave Ramsey way” everyday. We learned early on that a great leader has to be a JUST person, you need to know that any leader will do what is right and fair even if it is the difficult choice. The ability to say no is sometimes the greatest gift a person can give you. I truly feel your true colors are shown when you are faced with a difficult decision, if you are willing to do whats right no matter what people think of you, then you have the makings of a great leader.
Starting my own business without taking a loan. Starting small and taking my time to build. Would love to incorporate Dave’s principals into m new venture.
Communication is key in Leadership
Empathy…
I love Dave! Leading by example.
The most important quality of a great leader is to be able to listen to and hear the input of your team.
Integrity is most important for leadership.
To be a leader in life people have to want to follow you! I am a mother, a homemaker, a role model, a friend. It is most important to me to lead my children down the right path in life. To learn to be great leaders there selves. You don’t have to be a high corporate boss to be a leader. I am a simple woman living a simple life and I am now teaching my children how to be leaders with showing respect to others, showing leadership in daily lives by making right decisions and showing others a better way. To out future leaders, however they may lead, need direction, guideness, and god to touch this world one person at a time and lead them to be better in whatever they may do in life.
Lead as you would want someone to lead you.
A leader knows his/her own weakness and accepts it. This allows him/her to cultivate the strengths of each person on his/her team and therefore be able to expect the best out of the entire organization.
I think 2 qualities are inseparable – decisiveness and integrity
That’s a difficult question because a leader needs lots of good qualities! I believe some of those are honesty, trustworthiness, and responsibility.
#1 Leadership quality: Lead like Jesus. Which means with all this and more: LOVE LOVE LOVE, honesty, integrity, diligence, persistence, humility. There’s a book out that focuses on these qualities too. It’s called the BIBLE! P.S. Dave is great and down to earth!
The most important quality in leadership is being willing to do the work yourself but able to delegate to others.
I would have to say Leading by Example is one of the most important qualites of a leader. If you expect others to behave or handle things a certain way than it is important to do the same yourself
Mentorship-Every leader needs to be able to mentor new leaders. Keeping the information for yourself helps no one.
The ability to INSPIRE others is a key ingredient in leadership. In my case, as a Christian, I want to focus on God, learning more about Him and growing each day in Him. Through building a strong character base, one is able to attract followers. People want to see something that is real and effective, so living out that positive character INSPIRES others, rather than driving them or just telling them what to do:)
I think the most important trait for a leader to have is humility. Every leader has people in their past, present, and future that helped them. I think a good leader acknowledges those and learns from those people in their life. They are humble enough to know they didn’t get where they are alone and they won’t won’t get there alone. They seek wise counsel and acknowledge their weaknesses. They utilize the strengths of those around them.
I think humility is a key ingredient to leadership, if one is not able to admit mistakes and to know their own limitations and grow from them how will they be able to help others to do the same.
Would love to win! Thanks!
I think a leader needs to be humble. I wouldn’t want someone leading me who was full of pride and boasting.
In all situations, lead by example, whether in your personal life with your family or in the business world.
As I Christian, I believe that running a business should also include God. If you lead your business in a manner pleasing to Him, you are setting your business up to be successful.
Good morals is what I think is most important.
A leader has to do the things that play to their strengths and delegate the rest to those with greater strengths in those other areas.
I would love to be able to read this book. I have been playing with the idea of starting my own business for a few years now. The corporate world is so stressful and you work so hard for someone else who doesn’t always appreciate your talents. An important quality in a leader is someone who provides opportunities for talented individuals and is able to empower and cultivate their growth. A good leader is positive individual who leads by example and keeps all lines of communication open with those they lead. Communication is so important no matter what line of business you are in and so many people in top positions lack an understanding of this concept.
Honesty and good morals
I believe the most important quality in leadership is ironically having a servants heart. You might not think of a servant as a leader…but when you own your own business (or not) to lead you absolutely must serve!! For example, look @ Jesus. -Crystal Morris-Austin. Email: crysmo05@aol.com.
I think the most important quality of leadership is having a servant’s heart toward not only the company that a leader serves, but a commitment to serving its people. This includes being a faithful steward of the resources and the hearts of the people within the business.
Knowing the strengths and weakness and being able to use them to your advantage.
Honesty and Integrity go hand in hand.
I think that being gentle yet firm is the most important. You can’t go into a leadership position being so forceful that you hurt your followers but you do have to have that balanced with a firm hand so that you are able to lead and not just get run over. No one will follow if they are forced, you have to make them want to follow by showing compassion.
The quality I think is most important to leadership is ability to listen.
Integrity is a key factor to leadership along with the willingness to listen to your employees & customers.
Being able to identify and utilize the strengths and weakness of their team in order to help the company advance is one of the most important qualities in my opinion of a truly good leader.
The ability to show mercy and remain focused on purpose! That is rare and special in any leader!
We love Dave in our home. I think integrity is one of the most important qualities in a leader.
Confidence!
I also think moral integrity is the most important leadership quality. I remember Dave saying that in hi FPU cds.
We believe leadership is most effective when you lead by example! Talk to your employee’s not at them! We’ve been on the Total money Makeover for 2 years and have tried to live by example.
Leaders with humility recognize that they are no better or worse than other members of the team. A humble leader is not self-effacing but rather tries to elevate everyone.
Putting God first in your life!!!
Leaders who listen and communicate well with their team have always been ideal leaders in my book.
God first! Lead by example!
Integrity!
Casting vision and keeping a positive attitude!
Integrity. Don’t ask others to do what you are not already doing.
Leading by example!
Making everyone feel important & part of a team is an important quality for leaders
Have to echo the others — integrity
My husband and I love Dave! In fact, we bought tickets for his seminar in Atl in January. As new business owners, this would be a huge benefit for us! So…in order to answer your question…
…Honesty
My husband and I are currently taking Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University course though our church. The course has inspired me to take a leap of faith back into work that I once did, and I am so looking forward to this new challenge! I will once again become a Project Manager, and in that position of leadership, I will be fair, honest, and possess a high level of integrity in my position. I am a very good communicator and listener, which can be difficult, but making an effort to do this will help my team excel in their goals. Helping your team look good, makes you look good and gets great results!
Integrity is such a big one. Staying true to what you believe in.
Fairness is a very important leadership trait.
An humble spirit fosters respect for leaders and promotes conflict resolution.
I think the best quailty a person can have in the leadership role is honesty. For people to look up to you and have respect they have to have faith and know what you say and do is honest and ethical. Without honesty, you have a crumbling business that will show its ture colors in the end.
courage. you can’t become a leader if you’re not brave enough to try, and fail.
Service: I want a leader to get in the trenches with even though he/she is our leader I want them to serve right along with me through the good and bad!
A servant is a leader.
Being Coachable, Having a Dream, Keeping a Distance from those who would steal your dream, Learning new Habbits, Sharing what you know.
Integrity, simple, ‘Say what you mean and mean what you say”
i think communication is an important quality. You need to be able to listen to your employees and customers.
A leader really needs to be self-aware. The best leaders always seem to understand the effect their words and actions have on others around them and they adjust appropriately.
Humility……everything we have is God’s. We are just the managers.
Deuteronomy 8:18″But remember the LORD
your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and
so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is
today.”
Honesty. People need a leader to be worthy of respect.
I THINK INTEGRITY IS THE MOST IMPORTANT QUALITY A LEADER CAN HAVE. READY TO READ WHAT DAVE HAS TO SAY!
Having to narrow this to a single quality is difficult. If I must choose only one quality, then integrity is my choice. If you have integrity, you will do the right thing.
Communication – You have to be able to clearly communicate what is expected and humble enough to listen to those doing the jobs which carry you to the finish line for the task at hand.
I think the most important is : Listening and knowing your people
Lead by Example!
Excited to read Dave’s new book! :)
You got to be Genuine.. about the company, the product, yourself… :)
Dave Ramsey is awesome!
I think being a servant is the most important quality. A leader provides what his/her team needs.

I think it’s understanding.
I believe integrity is a quality most important in a leader’s character.

I think the most important quality to great leadership is not *needing *to be a leader but wanting to inspire others to be passionate about what you are passionate about; to foster a following out of wanting to be a part of something great.
This book will be painfully honest, knowing and listening to his show but boy we need it!
Integrity-I believe this quality in a person is most important. Thank you Southern Savers and Dave Ramsey for all you do!
I think honesty is the most important quality for leadership.
Wisdom is the one I look for.
I think the ability to hear (not just listening to) what people are saying to you is one of the most important factors in being a good leader.
Lead by example while always having a open ear to listen.
I think the best quality is being humble, knowing the people you are leading are the same as you, and following ultimatly the same God you are following. No one likes to a leader who thinks they are better than you.
Not asking anyone to do something you wouldn’t do yourself.
True leadership is the art of changing a group from ‘what is’ to ‘what ought to be’. It is not something that is ‘done to’ people, it is something ‘done with’ people. Every person in an organization can AND must lead in their own way.
I think the best quality in a leader is honesty!!
The most effective leaders, both in our time and those throughout history, are those who have led by example. Modeling the behavior and, more importantly, the character traits one wishes to see in others is perhaps the single most crucial aspect of leadership that can effect positive change.
Leadership is not micro-managing – trust in who works for you or with you.
We all learned it as kids – the golden rule – treat others as you would like to be treated…
Honesty has got to be in every transaction. Sometimes you will have to tell people things they don’t want to hear. But in the end, if you are honest & take the time to explain you have a customer for life.
Creativity is very important in leadership. This helps in every process that needs to be performed in your career!
A leader needs to be an honest person. This person needs to know how to inspire people to be the best they can be and they have to follow through with what they say.
Integrity!
Integrity to your customers, your employees and yourself.
A leader is able to see the big picture and inspire and equip their people to take care of the details that make the big picture a reality.
I need to do this man’s plan!
Ability to buid honest relationships!
A great leader should have honesty, integrity with great coaching and development skills to help pull a great team together.
The most important quality in leadership is integrity. The leader sets the example for others, living out whatever plan he is trying to promote. (i.e., a good Christian leader adheres to godly principles in how he lives his life).
Leaders have to be good listeners. You can’t be a good leader if you aren’t listening to and then meeting the needs of the people you lead.
Leaders need to be able to put themselves in other’s shoes – understanding the problem/task/goal from several points of view and then obviously acting on his or her decision in a timely manner.
Good leaders know how to follow God and take themselves out of the equation to give HIM the ultimate glory!
I was going to say consistency, but decided I think integrity is the best answer.
One word – HONESTY. The word applies to your relationships with everyone – employees, clients, spouse, etc. It also applies to being honest with yourself.
The drive for personal improvement and learning is the most important quality in a leader. I’m in grad school for leadership and need this book!!!! :)
I think you need to be likeable and positive and be able to motivate in order to be a good leader.
Bible based servant leadership!
The most important quality for a leader is the ability to make his people feel that their opinions/ideas are valuable and welcomed and taken into consideration when making decisions for the company. Everyone wants to feel like they are contributing to the team, and a good leader can make their employees feel that way.
Integrity is the most important quality for leadership.
VISION!
Being someone that others long to emulate. That comes with high moral standards and a love of and respect for people.
*****INTEGRITY*****
Being a great communicator is the key to being a successful leader. It determines how well others invest themselves in what we are trying to accomplish. Also being an open communicator helps us when we make mistakes (which will happen). When we effectively communicate, we are able to ask for forgiveness.
I believe being a good listener and giving positive feedback make for good leaders
Vision is a critical component of leadership.
Integrity
Integrity. Without it, who will follow you? Your employees may do as you say because they have to, but no one will respect your leadership.
Honesty. You have to be honest people are entrusting you with a little part of their life, wether it’s by buying something from you ( that you have endorsed as “good”) or by using a service that you provide for them ( that you assure them will be done with skill and pride). These people ( the consumer) expect you to be honest in your sale, and if you are not you can not expect to continue your busy with any type of long term success.
The quality I think is most important for leadership: having good morals
A great leader has the ability to inspire others to do great work. The best leaders inspire others by example (giving them a model to look up to) and by directing / coaching their team in a positive way.
Honesty and Integrity are important characteristics for a great leader.
The most important quality in leadership, is honesty.
The Willingness to take a chance.
The most important thing in leadership is humility
character
The most important thing about leadership is teaching others to become leaders so they dont need you anymore.
The most important thing about leadership is Godly character.
The most important thing in leadership is to listen to those that you lead as well as set a good example for what you expect from them.
The most important thing in leadership is being honest, showing respect to coworkers, and able to motivate others by sharing the enthusiasm for a job.
A great leader sets themselves apart by not being selfish and helping others. You are only as successul as the people that you surround yourself with. Everyone needs that one person in their life that gives them the opportunity to succeed.
“the righteous man walks in his integrity” Proverbs. Without integrity, there is no possibility of trust and without trust, you can not be followed. Without a following, there is no one to lead.
The quality that is most important…being able to live like no one else so you can live like no one else (said from the man himself)….if you can truly understand what that means and abide by that, then you can be a truly successful leader!
To me, I feel that in order to run a successful business is honesty and trustworthiness. The Bible speaks so much about treating each other and our business dealings in an honest way. It also speaks of a obtaining good name. It is awesome that they all work together.
Integrity …. the Golden Rule !
One word to sum it all up? Integrity. It seems to be a rare quality these days.
Good values
Honesty
Integrity by far!
Honesty!
A good leader would have principles they stand by.
Humility
Honesty
Honesty
Putting yourself as an example to others. If you want others to work hard for you, work hard yourself. Same for integrity and respect.
Lead by example!
You need to be sincere and believe what you are saying in order to get anyone to follow you.
The most important quality of a leader needs to have is care. Although in every situation they may not know the right answer, they are loyal and genuinely care about the safety and the well being of those following. And even if there is a mistake, or you do not always make the right decision, having care for others speaks for itself.
Humility
Humality. A good leader needs to realize that they are no better or worse than anyone else they are trying to lead. A leader should be selfless and try to evelate other’s spirits by practicing humality.
Integrity. A leader with integrity won’t fall victim to selfishness or laziness that traps and drowns so many companies large and small. A leader with integrity will have the vision to recognize how their choices effect no only themselves and their company, but will recognize the positive (and negative) impacts of their choices in the real lives of real people.
Servanthood.
Does anyone know if winners have been chosen? It has not been posted on the Giveaway Winners Page if so! Thanks!
They said winners chosen and emailed on 9/22 but I haven’t seen anything yet :( Good luck!
Vision. Any strong leader needs vision as to where he sees the company/brand going and for others to follow and implement these plans. This vision is brought about by many other characters of strong leadership which work hand in hand being wisdom, intergrity, character, and moral fortitude.
