I had a feeling after two great weeks losing a ton (8 lbs total) that there would be a slow down. This was that week. For a motivational week I don’t have much to say, I didn’t lose anything this week… but to be glass half full person I didn’t gain anything either. This week had four different celebrations all with cake, plus we ate out twice. To break away from the set food that Nutrisystem sends and eat on my own was a challenge, but I think it worked out.
I know you might think I could just not eat the cake and could take my own food places. For me when I am trying to lose weight if I cut out everything completely that I want it tends to make me fall hard. Food is very much a part of who we are and feeling like I can’t enjoy that usually spells disaster for any diet I’ve been on. This time around I’m trying to not be restrictive on things, just be wise with the portion size and with other things I eat that day. Yesterday I had birthday cake with lunch so I skipped an afternoon snack and skipped my sweet 100 calorie treat later in the evening. Calorie wise I still ended the day on target.
Last week I got a question on the taste of NutriSystem food. So far I’ve been very pleasantly surprised with the choices in my box. I did the “favorites” plan where they pick what you get. There was only one thing I didn’t love, but many others were actually really great tasting! My favorites have been the tortilla soup and the pizza. While the pizza doesn’t need anything added to it, I have been adding fresh peppers and spinach to the top to add some veggies to it. I’m also in love with their Harvest Nut bars for breakfast.
While I haven’t lost anything to report I have had the joy of pulling out a lot of old clothes this week and finding that a number of them fit! It was just one pair of pants last week, but this week it’s probably about 5 pair of pants and some skirts! I actually like the results of inches lost more than pounds so I’ll take it as my motivation on a week that the scale wasn’t motivating at all.
Totals So Far – Week 3
8 lbs lost
down 1 pant size
22 lbs to go
Today also marks the day that you can weigh in for the Southern Savers dietbet. If you want to lose some weight this spring then join in and win a little money on the side if you meet your goal!
Also folks have asked about tracking. I track everything in My Fitness Pal which is a free app. Tracking is a huge help in knowing what you left for the day and helping me to see that I really can’t “afford” the roll with dinner. If you are using the app too feel free to friend me and we can encourage each other along! I’m SouthernSavers on the app (not hard to remember).
