I decided to take this week off.
Doesn’t that sound better than, “I ran around like crazy this week with great hopes to make it to numerous stores, but never made it.” Yeah, I thought so.
I did make it to Publix to walk for unadvertised deals, while we were there I grabbed a box of crayons and a spiral notebook to keep the two year quite for a short while in the car. That was it. An expense of $1.50, but well worth it for my sanity. Okay I confess I also got a Publix sub… we did use a coupon though!
Part of our busy week was a trip to Atlanta for a follow up for Mary Rose. Last visit she got her casts off and came home with braces. This visit was to take quick x-rays and see if things were changing for the better. We hoped for good news, but the past few visits we left discouraged so I wasn’t getting my hopes to high. For the first time in over 5 months, I got to see our doctor walk into the room smiling. (He rarely has a change in mood, if ever). He said that is was noticeable that the bone has stopped breaking down and we are moving into the restoring phase where the bone starts to regrow. There are 4 stages of Perthes, and you have to move through all of them. This news means we are finally through stage 2 and beginning to move into stage 3. There is still a long road ahead, but to finally be on the healing side is wonderful. He attributes her very fast progression to the two types of surgery we did… we attribute it to so many people praying for her! She is still to not put any weight on her left leg, and we expect that to continue for a long while. She is getting her strength back on crutches though and rarely lets anything stop her.
We thank you for your prayers and ask that you continue to pray that the bone heals quickly and correctly. The correctly part being the most important, as we want the bone to grow back round (like a hip should be) and not with any bumps or notches that would effect her walking.
Now back to saving money…
