I may be welcoming our 5th child into the family, but it doesn’t mean that I don’t lie awake at night worrying or listening for little noises. Every parent worries (even though we are told “do not fear” more than any other command in the Bible). These little people are so tiny and fragile that you can’t help but think about it, and then you wake up having horrible dreams that don’t help either.
I’m not a huge fan of baby monitors, but the Snuza breathing detector has proven to be a lifesaver for a number of families (and a worry saver for many others). This is a tiny little monitor that you clip right onto the babies diaper and it monitors their breathing and movement. If they go longer than 15 seconds without a breath or movement then it vibrates to wake the baby gently and get them to take breath. If they still don’t, then it alarms to let you know something is wrong.
They make very large and bulky monitors with lots of cables and wires, but Snuza is so simple and wireless that you will love how easy it is to use. I haven’t used this yet, but actually received it months ago to test and immediately loaned it to a friend that had a 5 week early preemie with some breathing issues. The peace of mind that it gave them was priceless, and we do plan on using it in just a few days when we see them again to get it back. I’m glad to have been able to help them out and to know that we can use it as well.
