We see regular deals on a Sam’s Club membership and you might have pondered if you really would use it. While it won’t fully replace the grocery store, there are a lot of items that Sam’s had a great prices on and having a membership will usually pay for itself in savings very quickly.
Right now you can get a one year Sam’s Club membership for only $20 . It’s regularly $50, so it’s a great deal to sign up with!
If you don’t have a membership let me just share a few great reasons why it’s totally worth getting a free membership (not that you should need to think too hard about it though).
8 Reasons to Have A Sam’s Membership:
Club Value Sizes
While you may not want bulk sizes for everything, there are ton of items that priced out per serving or ounce are a great price at Sam’s. Plus we all have items we wish came in larger sizes when we are grocery shopping… now they do!
Instant Savings Deals
On top of the value size discounts, Sam’s regularly offers Instant Savings deals with thousands in savings all over the store. This includes every department with hundreds of participating items. When you checkout you’ll see the savings automatically apply.
Scan & Go Shopping
Can I just say this is possibly the best thing they’ve ever done?! Download the Sam’s App on your smartphone and as you put items in your cart scan the product barcodes. When you are done shopping you can checkout right on your app and head straight to the exit. You’ll skip all the checkout lines and be done shopping super fast!
Curbside Pickup
If you already know what you need, then skip going in and order everything online! You can pull up to the store and get your entire order brought straight to the car. We’ve even used this a lot with BIG orders in the past for Church catering events and American Heritage Girls troop events.
Extra fun perk: At some locations you even get a goodie bag filled with free samples when you pick up your order!
Clearance Deals
I’m a bit of a clearance junkie, and Sam’s has some sweet deals when they run markdowns. You’ll find them scattered around the store and even some online. Best times to check at right after an Instant Savings sale ends (towards the end of each month) after holidays and seasonal special items end. A recent find for us, was a big Stanley Vacuum Insulated Thermos marked down to $6.99 (reg. $20).
Discounted Gift Cards
If you want to save on eating out, travel and entertainment make sure to take advantage of their gift card deals! They have lots of offers in your local club, but also hundreds more online! Many will save you an easy 25% off the full price of the gift cards. Grab $50 in gift cards to favorite restaurants and pay only $37.50!
Gas Savings
Every trip to Sam’s isn’t complete without filling up the car gas tank. I wish we lived closer so we could get all our gas there! With your membership you easily get the lowest prices with their gas discounts. Compared to stations in our area, they tend to always be 10¢ or more per gallon cheaper!
Redeem Cash Back Mobile App Offers
For all my fellow couponers, you can still use Ibotta, Checkout 51 and other apps with your trips to Sam’s! You’ll even find special offers just for Sam’s Club purchases. Upload a picture of your receipt when you get home to get extra cash back savings.
What Are Some of the Best Deals to Grab?
Here are some of the items that are always on our Sam’s list. Shopping around I can’t get these items cheaper anywhere else, even with a crazy coupon deal.
OTC Housebrand Medications
You’ll get daily doses of medications for less than 1¢ per dose! I’ve shared before but this is a huge savings personal and farm needs for us. I grab my husband’s Omprazole (Prilosec) 42 ct. for $9.98 and we get Member’s Mark Aller-Zyr (Zyrtec) 400 ct. at $14.97.
Bulk Almonds & Pecans
You could grab one pound of Almonds in the grocery store for $6 on sale or… get 3 lbs in Sam’s for $8.98. Get an even better deal on Pecans. Sale prices in other stores are around $8 a pound while Sam’s regular price is $11.48 for 2 lbs!!
Spices & Extracts
It doesn’t matter what spices you need, the bulk prices on everyone of them is a great price at Sam’s. Grab black pepper, garlic, or vanilla extract and get the lowest prices per ounce.
K-Cups & Coffee
My goal is to always pay 30¢ or less per k-cup and that is always possible with Sam’s deals. You’ll see different brands on instant savings offers each month, but even at their regular prices you’ll be able to hit my buy price.
Flour & Bulk Baking Supplies
We’ve taken on a hobby of baking sourdough bread and Sam’s has the lowest prices per pound on large bags of flour. Get 25 lbs for less than $10!
One other item we never leave without might not be in all areas… we love Palmetto Cheese and they sell the largest container for a product I can never find on sale in other stores. If you’ve never had it we recommend the Jalapeños version.
