When money is tight it’s time to get creative! You will be amazed what you can sell on eBay. Everything from toilet paper tubes, egg cartons to old magazines… this truly is one persons junk is another’s treasure.
Two things to keep in mind:
1) Not sure if something will sell? List it and see what happens. You just never know what someone may be shopping for.
2) Presentation is everything. The better it looks the more people are willing to pay.
Here are 10 slightly unusual things to sell on Ebay.
Toilet Paper Tubes
Feeding everyone Sonic’s chili may actually work out in your favor after all. Keep all of those empty toilet paper rolls in a box and when you have 40 or so, list it and ship it out. The box will be light so it will be fairly cheap to ship and you kept a few items out of the landfill.
A lot of 40 roll is currently selling for around $14 shipped.
Old Magazines
You read them, you stored them for 5 years, and now you can sell them! The pricing varies based on the year and type of magazine so do a quick search for the magazine title to check out the going rate. If you have a subscription, gather all of the copies you have of that magazine and sell them as lot.
Egg Cartons
Eating breakfast is now officially part of your job description. Save your egg cartons for a few weeks (or months) and list them when you have 10 or so. The cardboard egg cartons sell for more than the Styrofoam but both will possibly sell. You can also ask close friends and family if they will keep their egg cartons for you to accumulate them faster.
Empty Boxes
If you thought American Girl was expensive just wait until you see the price of this box! An empty American Girl box will sell for around $20 shipped. Y’all, that’s without the doll. You can also sell iPhone boxes, camera boxes, shoes boxes, etc.
Instruction Manuals
Anyone else have a huge stack of instruction manuals that go to items you no longer own? You may be able to sell them, even if you no longer have the item they go to. They tend to sell for between $4 and $10 shipped so you may not get rich quick but small amounts add up!
Broken Electronics
I have no idea how to fix a blender but someone else does. You can list electronics that are broken to sell for parts. You will need to be very clear in disclosing that the item is broken and is for parts only. If you can explain why it doesn’t work or what part is broken it will be even easier to sell.
Craft Supplies
For everyone who decided to take up a new hobby and then realized they have no time for a hobby. Group whatever craft supplies you aren’t going to use list them together. Some ideas are fabric scraps, partially used yarn rolls, sequins, glitter, and more.
Pine Cones
This is one that your kids can help with! Head outside to your yard to gather all the pine cones you can find. If you can find jumbo size you will be able to earn even more. Be sure to find pine cones that are in great shape and prepare and preserve them before shipping.
Here’s any extra thing to sell… acorns! Yep people pay top dollar for acorns, time to get the kids out raking.
Samples
It takes two seconds to request various free samples that pop up. Throw them in a box when they arrive and once you have a good selection you can sell them. You can also include small size items that you get for free (or very cheap) after coupons.
Old Computer Software
Roller Coaster Tycoon 1999 may not work great on your current laptop but you can sell it! List any copies of old computer programs that you still have in storage. Just have the case? It may still sell! List empty cases of DVDs and computer programs and you may be able to earn a little cash.
What is the weirdest thing you’ve seen or bought or sold on Ebay?
