Owning a blog means editing a lot of pictures and I’ve navigated my way around a few photo editing sites. The best thing about them: these are FREE photo editing sites. Not only are these sites good for bloggers, but they’re great for moms who want to brighten, filter or erase some blemishes on family photos before they’re printed and hanging on the wall. Here are my top 5 choices for free photo editing sites.
1. Canva
I LOVE Canva and it’s become the only tool I use to make images for Southern Savers. They have so many beautiful pictures to use as backgrounds that pull over from Unsplash.com. This is also a great site to make printables for your home. You can put your favorite scripture or quote in front of an image, print it out and hang it on your wall. There is also a paid version that lets you easily resize one image for lots of platforms and gives you access to tons of free images.
2. PicMonkey
PicMonkey is easy to use and has a lot of options for text fonts, overlays and editing options. They are only free now for 7 days, but in terms of upselling their paid version is one of the cheapest out there! It does have a few features that Canva doesn’t have, like easy drop shadows, curved text, and drawing on the image are three I use regularly.
3. Pixlr X
Pilxr just released Pixlr X which is completely free with no upsale. There are gorgeous things you can do to your images, plus a seamless app that lets you edit on your phone or desktop.
4. Easil
Want to make gorgeous images for instagram, facebook, stories and more? Check out Easil. They have thousands of templates ready to go, plus many fonts and easy drag and drop features to put together images quickly. Their basic level is free, but you can upgrade if needed as well.
5. iPiccy
This is a great site for basic photo editing. While I wouldn’t come here to add in text or make a meme or graphic, it’s perfect and easy for an average person to turn basic photos into beautiful photos.
6. BeFunky
BeFunky offers a completely free version that will let you do a number of things without needing to upgrade! While they aren’t as big as Canva or PicMonkey it’s quite possible that their editor will have what you need.
Two Bonus App Only Editors You’ll Love
While this doesn’t quite fit the mold of the others, you’ll fall in love quickly with LifeLapse. This free app quickly walks you through and helps you make stop motion videos, or take videos you already have and turn them into stop motion. There is a paid upgrade, but you can make great images/videos with the free version.
8. VSCO
If you are using VSCO, a completely free app, then possibly you won’t need any of the photo editors above! The goal of this app is to help you take a great picture from the start, with tons of presets that can change the f-stop, ISO and other settings to make your camera phone more like a fancy SLR camera! You can also use it with pictures you took outside of the app to apply filters and clean them up. (I use this all the time!) There is an upgrade version, but you won’t need it. I used the app for over 2 years before I had a day that I wanted one of the premium features…
