Becoming 2014 is just around the corner (August 8th-9th) and it has me thinking about all of my favorite things about the conference! It was hard to narrow it down, but here are 10 of my favorites to get you excited about joining us (or to convince you to sign up and hop on over to Asheville, NC).
1. I want to meet you!
Myself and a number of other bloggers will be speaking at Becoming this year. We always love to meet the folks that read our blogs and put faces with names. Come up and say hi when you see me!
2. A weekend away.
Sometimes it’s nice just to load up your friends in the car and go on a mini vacation for a night. We’ve tried to keep Becoming as inexpensive as possible so it’s a little easier for you all to come to the mountains with us.
3. Relaxing rocking chairs.
Time seems to stand still when you’re sitting in the Ridgecrest rocking chairs and looking out over the mountains. It really is one of the most relaxing things I do on the trip.
4. Be encouraged by other moms and bloggers.
The main goal we have every year at Becoming is that you leave feeling encouraged. Whether it’s encouraged by your new-found DIY skills, your ability to save money, or encouraged to live a more purposeful life. Our speakers have thoughtfully prepared sessions to have you leaving feeling encouraged. Plus, maybe you’ll strike up a conversation with a new friend who leaves you feeling more encouraged than any of the talks ever could.
5. Diy lip gloss.
This year we’re trying our hand at making natural lip gloss. Come with an open mind and you’ll leave with a free new pack of lip gloss!
6. Learn a new skill.
Not only do we have special workshops before the conference even begins (cake, craft, furniture painting and photography), but you can also learn a new trick or two in the regular sessions.
7. Photo Booth
We’ve had a fun photo booth opportunity the past two years and this year is no exception! Go ahead and start practicing your silly faces in the mirror.
8. Freebies!
Everyone loves freebies. We have some awesome sponsors who just want you to try out their products, so they’re letting you try them for free! All of those freebies come in a cute bag from Dayspring.
9. Best “Girls Night In” around.
Jen and I work hard to make Girls Night in a time where you can relax and be pampered. It includes a movie, nail polish from CVS, cheesecake, and this year we’re bringing back the massages sponsored by Allstate! Pack a deck of cards and sit outside with your friends laughing and playing games.
10. Cheesecake.
Did I mention there would be cheesecake at Girls Night In? Well, every year it’s amazing. don’t fill up on dinner Friday night because there will be delicious dessert!
***If you haven’t signed up for Becoming yet, there are still spaces available! The cost is only around $100 (depending on the room you choose) for the conference, meals and the room. The biggest way you can save is to share a room.

- You’ll need the name, mailing address, telephone number and email address of everyone staying in your room.
- You will be asked to pay a $50 deposit per person at registration. You are more than welcome to pay the full amount per person, which will speed up check-in that day.
- Local Rate attendees for those who do not need accommodations is $52.20. You still need to register to reserve your ticket. This price includes conference and lunch on Sat.
