DIY monogram options can definitely save a bit of money. Living in the south, monograms are a huge deal. But if you get your monograms professionally done, it can cost an arm and a leg. Here are some of my favorite monogram ideas I found from Pinterest and elsewhere.
DIY Monogram Ideas
Blooming Monogram
What you’ll need:
· Cardboard letters (from Hobby Lobby or Michael’s)
· Box cutter or X-acto knife
· Hot glue gun
· White spray paint
· Scissors
· Silk (or real) flowers
I love this because it provides some structure but also lets you be creative. You can arrange the flowers however you want with any colors you want. And remember that if you use silk flowers, it will last forever!
I think these floral monograms would look great in a kitchen, bathroom, or even in a baby girl’s nursery.
Framed Burlap Monogram
What you’ll need:
· Burlap
· Frame
· Wooden letter
· Paint
· Hot glue gun
If you already have a frame laying around, then this project is extremely frugal! The tutorial for this describes making one for a wedding gift, which I think is a great idea. It would also be a good choice to make for something to hang on your front door.
Monogrammed Coasters
What you’ll need:
· Cork coasters
· Acrylic paint
· Painter’s tape
· Foam paint brush
· Cardstock
· Scissors
· Pencil
· Small angled paint brush
This idea has endless possibilities. You could freehand your own paint design instead of using stripes, or even cover the coasters with fabric if you don’t want to paint them. Depending on how you choose to do them, this could be a great project for kids, too!
