Our family does a good bit of traveling and I’ve always wanted to try the journeyBee travel crib from ParentLab. I want something that is light and easy to put up and take down. Well, ParentLab sent me a journeyBee to try out and I was overjoyed when the package arrived to my house.
I was a little concerned when I saw the size of the box, but when we opened it and realized that there are NO pieces to put together I was sold! It is literally all one piece that goes up like one of those tents that you throw open (I wouldn’t throw this though). There is a separate mat that tucks into a pouch underneath if you are using it to sleep. To compare this to another top brand, Phil & Teds travel crib (that costs more), I will probably never set our P&T travel bed up again. It has at least 10 pieces that require holding your tongue just right to get the whole thing together and requires brute force to take down.
The Travel Crib weighs just over 10 lbs and comes with a durable carrying case that’s great if you’re taking it on the road with you, to a friend’s house or even to the beach.
My favorite part of the travel crib is probably the most simple. It has a felt sheet that velcros completely on all sides to cover the bottom. We have had our fair share of travel systems in the past 8 years and they have all had a our kid sleeping on vinyl. For the baby that’s fine, but for the mama… it means I wake up every time they roll over from the noise of the vinyl rubbing together. Our sweet 6 month old will also wake up in the middle of the night and just rub her fingers against the vinyl. I don’t care if she is up playing in the middle of the night, but mama doesn’t need to lay there and listen to it. Long story short, that felt sheet and I are tight!
