We used our budget and then some this week…  first last Saturday my girls and I hit the farmers market.  We are blessed to leave near the state market for SC so our market is big with lots of options.  We grabbed right at $46 in produce and then spent the rest of the weekend putting it up.  It made my half empty freezer (since we lost everything a few months ago) look so much better to be packed with fresh produce!

We got:
1/2 bushel of Okra – $12
1/2 bushel of Corn  – $12 (was around 60 ears so 20¢ an ear)
1/2 bushel of peaches – $18 (and priceless to my husband)
1 cantaloupe – $1
1 pineapple – $1.99
medium bunch of bananas – $1

The corn is blanched and frozen, the okra I cut and pre-breaded with cornmeal only for fried okra and the peaches we half ate and then cut up the rest and frozen for cobblers and shakes later.

I also hit Kroger to get things to help us  have a fun camp out in the back yard this weekend.  We are having gluten free smore’s and hotdogs plus some other things, but it meant grabbing some baking goods I didn’t have in pantry to make those graham crackers.

While we were there we took advantage of the GM deal.  The totals below were done in separate transactions to make sure the catalina deal printed and to make my cashier happy… gotta love/hate Kroger.

Kroger:
Total before sales and coupons: $116.42
Total spent: $44.17
Total Saved: $72.25 or 62%
